Well, that could be because he edited the first movie together back in '78 and he never had the chance of doing the same with II. So for the 2001 cut he had a reference which he doesn't have for II. Anyway, I also thought that Thau also edited the 2001 edition and Donner just kinda supervised...
Well, that's something they could've asked Donner during the "16 Blocks" junkets (or whatever those were), instead of asking the same question in 20 different ways.;)
I never knew Hamilton came back. Actually, it doesn't even make sense since he wouldn't be able to shoot in England. Unless he did only to, as you say, map out the sequel and then leave. But Lester could've done that.
This is probabily the only way we could ever see Donner's footage incorporated into a movie. I don't think he would ever be willing to compromise and mix his footage with Lester's. Other than that I think Thau has more than enough information to make the best possible cut.
Well, uh, they can hold their breath for a very, very long time and I guess their aura protects them from the possible space hazzards. :D :b
It would be nice if they got Annette O'Toole to talk about Superman III and the mytholgy in general since she's obviously part of the Smallville cast.
Dharmesh C I know supermancinema.co.uk has been quite supportative of Ilya Salkind (or at least easier on him) lately but I still think that, based on what we know about them, they would NEVER pass away a chance of making a few extra bucks by releasing Superman II's extra footage... ;) Besides...
Hmm, I wonder if they'll restore the 40+ minutes cut from Superman IV, that'd be something... as for Superman II, it would be difficult for Donner to make a DC without using some of Lester's footage, which I think neither of them would be too fund of. So, either both of them sit on a table and...
