No, I find it funny people say films are made for money but get their panties in a bunch when told film restorers are also doing it because it is their job and they need the money. So, should we be surprised when the people behind a specific release keep saying 'this is the way it's supposed...
Everybody's picking unfairly on Sofia Coppola in GF3. But other than that, I thought Andy Garcia was not suitable for the role too. His earlier parts as an unrestrained playboy were believable, but his transformation to a Don was utterly laughable. It seemed he was about to break into a laugh...
No need. The Blu-ray is clearly superior. Between the older DVD version and the new restored DVD's there are important improvements. The restored DVD's are good, but it's still 480p. No way I'm buying compressed stuff. As my screen gets bigger (hopefully), these compressed DVD's will betray...
Of course they have taken the full advantages of Blu-ray--with 50GB dual layered discs for all three films + HD audio. Even the new extras in disc 4 are in HD. What, you want them to do 6k or 8k transfers to Blu-ray?
Oh come on, you have reliable screen caps from a good site and you still want to wait till you get your copy to see the difference? Take a look at the 'leave the gun, take the cannoli' scene--the one with the New York statue and all: the yellowish tint--the period look--is gone, it's replaced...
Well, the HDD review clearly states this: 'Coppola's approach to brightening his films (particularly 'The Godfather' and 'The Godfather Part II') will undoubtedly be controversial.' Now, when I posted the news of the restoration there was no news of 'brightening'--I mean it's okay, but just say...
I remember RAH raving about Dracula saying 'it was supposed to be way it should look' when EVERYBODY who had seen it in theaters in 1992 instantly recognized changes were made. Why can't the people behind these transfers just come out and say that changes were made to the picture with the...
I though Gordon Willis said it was a restoration NOT a redirection. Did they alter it for modern audiences so that 'it's too dark' won't be an issue this time around?
Yeah, sorry it was a bit too much. I just got a little emotional :) . I just don't think he deserved that much of credit, I mean the way he talks about it now he gives this picture that it was all him. Even Francis Coppola sent him a letter years later writing how upset he was with Evans...
Thank god for Coppola, otherwise Robert Evans would've destroyed everything. Everybody thinks highly of Evans as the main idea behind this movie, but the guy was just a bluffing egomaniac. The way he treated Al Pacino by calling him a 'midget' all through production--I mean, all he did was...
I think they are targeting the younger audience with the Kill Bill-like blood splatter across the cover-art. Have you seen the trailer for the remastered versions at amazon (UK)? The trailer looks like something for the Dark Knight or something--it doesn't give the whiff of a classic movie...
The pre-order at Amazon is set for $86.95: Amazon.com: The Godfather Collection - Four-Disc Coppola Restoration (The Godfather / The Godfather Part II / The Godfather Part III) [Blu-Ray] [Blu-ray]: Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy Garcia, Eli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, George Hamilton,
