Leo - I'm not sure I believe that reviewer. The CBS syndication website indicates that they've made HD masters of 22 misc episodes (probably the best of set) which indicates that they had film elements to work from. Interestingly though, it looks like they didn't transfer the entire S1 to HD...

Thanks, Ron, but I don't see a review at the link either. Also that link is for the UK release which is not the same as the Shout release. For example, the UK release has English subtitles and it doesn't appear the Shout release does (at least by the listings I've seen). Also, Leo's links...

Thank you SSB for the heads up on this. I hadn't planned on pre-ordering this (Shout products often require reviews before I'll order), but this was too good a deal to pass up. If Amazon cancels, I didn't lose anything.

I looked at the CBS syndication bible set and it looks like at least 3 of these episodes were possibly music heavy with guest stars: Bilko presents the McGuire Sisters Bilko and the Crosbys Bilko Stars Kay Kendall Bilko's "Merry Widow" Hopefully a Bilko-phile can fill in the details.

Does the Shout set have English subtitles also (the UK version does)? Shout is generally terrible about including them but I'm hopeful that since CBS provided the prints that those were available also.

I was referring to several years back when they were pumping out multiple series at once (Mannix, Hawaii Five - O, Perry Mason, Untouchables, Fugitive, Gunsmoke, etc.) While a lot of them did get completed, there were some hiccups: Bilko, One Step Beyond, Barnaby Jones were a few that didn't...

Hopefully Shout does this right. I hate to say it, but I don't feel comfortable buying their products before reading reviews I trust given the mixed bag they've served up before. Perhaps if CBS/P hadn't put so much product out at once this might have found its audience. There's only so much...
