Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Thanks, Jack. I appreciate the answer. I have very vague memories of watching this last episode with my parents (they were Five-0 fans) but other than the ending, which I won't spoil for anyone, I can't remember much about it.

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Was the series finale episode a 2 hour event? If so, that would partially help explain why 6 discs. I agree with Jack in that I'm not expecting any bonus features on this set.

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

What's particularly aggrevating about the S10 release is that CBS/P has since created HD masters for that season which should look on par with the others. My guess is that they'll be used for the eventual complete series release after S12 comes out which does nothing for those who bought the...

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

There's an interesting update (05/31/11) to the CBS Syndication Bible for H5-0: This confirms what many have already observed: S10 was released to DVD without the benefit of a HD transfer. However the eventual release of S11 & S12 should be much improved. It's unfortunate that...

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Thanks to DVDs and re-runs we sometimes forget that these shows present the actors "frozen in time". It kinda hit home this week when the celebrity birthday listings said that "The Fonz" becomes a senior citizen tomorrow. Yes, Henry Winkler turns 65. That makes me feel old. Five-O's...

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Sad to say this, but now the entire original crew (plus the Governor and original supporting characters like Wo Fat, Jenny, Doc Eben and Che Fong) has now passed.

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Gunsmoke and L&O tied for the longest running drama series, but I give the edge to Gunsmoke because it had almost 180 more episodes during those 20 seasons (635 vs 456). Gunsmoke also maintained cast integrity during those 20 seasons with Arness and Stone along for the entire ride and...

If there were indeed any cuts, they were very minor. I did not check the time of each S6 episode but the ones I did all were definitely uncut (the closing credits started at the 49:30 mark). The S6 set was first rate in my book; great A/V quality and the stories were still fairly strong.

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Just finished the S5 set...mostly very entertaining episodes although there were some that were bit mediocre IMO. The "Ben" character is a nice addition. Biggest drawback are the big leaps in logic that pop up from time to time in these episodes. My favorite episode by far was the Andy...

Hawaii Five: O: The Sixth Season and beyond

Rumor has it that the sideburns had their own agent. :D On a sad note, it didn't receive much press, but a Five-0 mainstay passed away earlier this month. Harry Endo, who played the forensic savvy Che Fong, passed away at age 87. See more here. For a show of fairly recent...
