By and large I would say that consumers don't care about quality. Digital Quality is an oxymoron. I like HDTracks a lot for the remastered brought to the table, and I am a fan of SACD/DVD-A when they are 5.1.
I came into some Christmas money so I completed the 24/192 Simon & Garfunkel collection, and 24/96 Springsteen (Born to Run and Born in the USA). Happy ears.
I picked up the DVD of Pink Floyd so I could rip it. Today, HDTracks released the Simon & Garfunkel studio albums plus the Concert in Central Park in 24/192 hi-res. They also released the George Harrison Apple Years set in 24/96 hi-res. There is a coupon code for 15 percent off, HDNOV15. Bridge...
Brain Salad Surgery was not 5.1 as advertised. The DVD Audio in the 3-disc package is stereo only 24/96. The only way to get the new 5.1 mix is to buy the $$$ super deluxe edition. Pink Floyd Division Bell haS been reissued for its 20th anniversary. The box set includes a blu-ray audio disc with...
ELP's Brain Salad Surgery is getting a new 5.1 mix on DVD-Audio in April...this was released in the format back in the day, and was commanding high prices on Amazon. Now you will be able to get a 2-CD, 1-DVD-Audio package like self-titled and Tarkus did in 2012.More here...
Latest acquisition from Amazon.co.uk is Five Miles Out by Mike Oldfield. This 2-CD 1-DVD set includes the original recording remastered with bonus tracks, a concert recording from 1982 (Tubular Bells live is impressive) and a regular DVD in DTS and DD of the album in stereo and 5.1.The 5.1 mix...
Acoustic Sounds has free shipping for orders over $89. That's just 3 titles at $29.98 each.
I looked for Crime of the Century at Amazon.fr, and it was not listed.
I have ordered from Amazon Italy and Germany, and UK. In all cases, your Amazon.com ID and password is used. Use Google Chrome to translate the pages easily.
For Breakfast in America on blu, I ordered through the exclusive retailer in France, FNAC. Shipping cost more than the disc. I ended...
It's the album of the year. And even though the robots have a digital background, the album has an analog flavor. And when it sounds like a Chic album, it puts you right back in the 70's.
Listening to my hirez Talking Heads rips of Fear of Music and Speaking in Tongues. Through the DAC at 24bit/96kHz, over the headphones, sounds real good.
I saw New Blood Live when Gabriel toured in the Dallas area. It was a smaller venue, the acoustics were nice, and I remember the bass of Intruder. It was body-shaking. Ranks up there, maybe higher, than the Growing Up Live tour which I saw in 2003.
OK, here's something for a Jethro Tull fan...I just received a second replacement disc for my bad copy of Thick as a Brick. It features hi-res stereo and 5.1 mixes. If you want it, PM me your contact information.
I missed the Genesis boxes. I would like to hear some of their 80's recordings in 5.1.
I am ripping the Talking Heads discs for my streaming hi-res collection and for iTunes. I should never start a project like this in the middle of the night!
Oh my, my 5.1 DVD-A collection just increased by 8 discs...I just realized that I have this stuck in with my CD's... granted, they are dual discs (CD on one side, DVD-A on the other) but they should be pristine, as I only ripped the CD sides and put them on the shelf. With this complete studio...
Bother. I am listening to Synchronicity SACD and it is overloading my aging Denon 5803. A quick google search shows that I need to get into my Denon's setup menu and change a setting, but my remote just died and needs to be recharged. Oh the humanity!
Universal players are great! I use mine via analog connections because I don't have HDMI. And I also use the player to stream all my hires downloads to my good stereo.
Both Aja and Gaucho sound great (I have the SHM SACDs of both. I also have a domestic SACD of Gaucho, though I can't say how it compares). Some people say Super High Material is just hype that adds to the price. I'm not convinced of that. If memory serves, the regular Police SACDs are just...
Cool! I tried playing Grrr! on the downstairs system, and my aging Yamaha receiver kept switching off.I have Aja from Japan, and all the Police SACDs. I forget, is Every Breath You Take The Singles MC or just stereo?
I have really been digging the new hires release of Daft Punk Random Access Memories.I also got the deluxe edition of Wings Over America, which included a hires download of the 3 CDs in the box.You can get both Daft Punk and Wings at HDTracks, although the Wings download loses the bonus 3rd...
If you are a fan of Breakfast in America (as I am) check out the deluxe edition on CD:

Sounds fine, and includes a disc of live tracks (some duplicates of Paris, but several that are not).
