Like father, like son really :)
Whats he supposed to say - free us or I will meditate on this a bit more ? let us go...please ?\
And if you want to get really pedantic, he didnt actually say he was going to kill him, just that Jabba would die - and he didnt kill him either, just a bunch of...
30 years old and no film has yet to replace this as my favourite film of all time and I'd be surprised if any do. It has been close though (Fellowship of the Ring was close)
May not be the greatest film ever made but its still my favourite - pink lightsabers notwithstanding :)
that is indeed correct and it was a pain at the time. There was a lot of media press at the time about fans flying over from the UK to the US just to catch the film
Also recently received my copy. After all the things I have read about Star Wars, this is still engrossing, especially since it is told from interviews at the time rather than recent recollections before they were aware of the full impact the film would had. I have never really looked into the...
Well, with all the anniversary stuff, I decided (like many Im sure) to watch the saga again. One a night should do it, with the Clone Wars DVDs thrown in. Just finished watching The Phantom Menace so thought I would offer some random thoughts that came to me whilst watching. I dont want this to...

That is a very interesting take on what Yoda means by "there is another" I never considered he might be referring to Anakin and one that certainly makes sense in that Obi Wan would not consider this and assume he meant Leia.
I did say that the tear on Mustafar was probably a catch-all for all his action up to that point including at the Jedi Temple. I meant there isn't a moment after the Temple sequence where he stops to consider it specifically. All his other actions have that. I think that's why the sequence would...
Sorry, hate to be disagreeing again :) . I think had Anakin gone back and told Obi Wan and Yoda what happened, he would have given the Jedi the opportunity to destroy the Sith and fulfil the prophecy, he would have resisted the Dark Side. Maybe he would have been kicked out of the Order for his...
Fair enough I agree with that point, I was thinking largely in terms of making Anakin's turn more gradual and I felt the benefits to moving it outweighed the losses to the film.
Not quite.
I wouldn't change anything else as it stands. Anakin still fights Obi Wan on Mustafar, the creation of Vader is still intercut with the birth of the twins, the Order 66 sequence still happens. The only difference is Anakin doesn't march on the Jedi Temple until after he is burned and...
Well, finally managed to get a marathon of all 6 films in. A couple of thoughts.
1. The Phantom Menace is very much the weakest film in terms of story, mainly because very little of the film is part of the larger arc. It is extremely slow in the middle of the film. It would have been much...
I think the intention was more to emphasise that the films are meant to be a series viewed together. On the other hand he could have gone the route you suggested with different logos for the prequel film and this would have had the same effect.
Id be very surprised not to see Star Wars in cinemas again next year for the 30th anniversary, but I dont think a summer release is likely. Better to do an early year release like 97. Release one every 2 weeks or something like that.
You know, now Im waiting for a picture that celebrates the whole saga with characters from across the films. I know they did one for the 25th ann of ANH, but that didn't include ROTS.
Here's hoping (and release the SE posters with the prequel logos) :)
I know Shmi has no grudges against the Jedi but I think a young farmboy (Owen/Luke) might begrudge the fact that he has to stay and look after the farm etc, whilst his step-brother/friend is off on an adventure to learn with the Jedi/Academy, regardless of whether he knew him.
See what I did...
I would say Anakin growing into Vader is a greater shock to a new viewer. Yes, his turn to the dark side is forshadowed but what Anakin did (assuming you buy his turn) and his eventual fate in Episode III is an unknown element to a new viewer. And when I was watching EpIII knowing what had to...
