Makes no sense. They will end up trading another player from their farm system or bench to pick him up again when they realize how dumb they are yet again. The series isn't over yet. Anything can happen. I've seen it myself.

Rained out. In other news the Yankees reportedly picked up the $13 million dollar option for Sheffield next year and he's livid pissed about it because he wanted to test the free agent market. He doesn't want to play First Base.

MLB seems to have signed a new tentative agreement to their labor agreement. Also it appears the Phillies signed Jamie MOyer to a new 2 year extension.

Questionable move by Randolph to not bring in Wagner but the Met offense pretty much disappeared against the Cardinals. They can't strike out with the bases loaded looking with the WS on the line. Not if you are getting paid $100Million+ Only Arod does that ;)

I wouldn't have called the 88 Dodgers the worst league champion. Keep in mind my next door neighbor was on the managerial staff ;) The Cardinals don't have the pitching that the 88 Dodgers had but they have the hitting IMHO. I think the last Marlin team would certainly qualify as the worst...

Either way the Tigers win. Destiny team and all that. The Cardinals if they go there will get swept and I'd like to see the fallout from that.

Detroit fans are saying "Lions who?" I wonder if this whole deal will get Scott Merryfield back into baseball or not. I know he was pretty peeved when they went on strike but a WS championship should be what the doctor ordered :)

Ditto. I don't think it matters who the Tigers play in the WS.

Current ESPN rumor says that Lou Pinella is going to be the manager of the Cubs. They should be focusing on Girardi IMHO.

There's no doubt Manny is a great hitter and one of the best but I think if you placed Manny and Soriano and said which guy do you want to pay 100 million to right now(ignoring age and injury issues), I'ld bet most would take Soriano for the upside. Head wise: they are both headcases. Baseball...

I'd argue as would many that Pujols is the best hitter period. Atleast in the last 5 years. Keep in mind i'm not a biased Red Sox fan either ;) Mark is right. I mean you can't complain about Soriano and look at how eratic at best Manny plays out in the outfield. Soriano is atleast improving...

Headcases and slacker players haven't stopped teams from getting players like this. Manny is a nutjob and teams went after him like crazy. I mean honestly if my team needed a slugger and could afford the guy I'd be all over Soriano like white on rice. The Dodgers could use a bat like his but...

    2006 MLB Season Discussion

Yep Boston has one too many headcases as it is ;) Soriano is slowly becoming a better defensive player outfield wise to the point where people aren't going to think defensive liability. His offense certainly hasn't let up. The biggest deal I can see is where to play him. He wants to play 2b...

Can't blame A-rod for striking out with the bases loaded. 2 102 MPH fastballs and then a big curve to strike you out is rough. Verlander was on fire. and so are the Cardinals. The NL west Champs maybe done.

Rodriguez being pushed back is to protect him. Why not? Given Girardi will be a Free Agent manager, I wonder how many teams will up the price for the Cubbies to land him. It seems he will go there given he's from there and whatnot but who knows.

The Cardinals have zero pitching. The Padres should take them out pretty quick. The Mets will likely play the Dodgers. The Twins do win the central making the Tigers the Wildcard. That's gotta be a bit disheartening to the Tigers.
