Sorry. Windows upgrade the last 2 days. :frowning:
Nothing like debugging a conflict between XP and your motherboard.
The only hold up is the presentation aspect.
Okay, the time period is over. I'm working on the announcement process/thread right now. I'm just checking in here so you voters know it's not forgotten.
George and Mark are just one example of why (I think) the outcome is better served by the wider range of tastes, as long as those tastes have taken the time to become familiar with these films and others of similar quality.
During the challenge I also included films I hadn't seen in over 5...
Well, I'm hoping that you can get there Brook. Just think of the swings that your top 10 films could make to the list, for example.
Some people have altered the top 10 by leaving one of those films out of their top 40!! Something to think about. Your vote for the top 10 films could help put...
I agree, the more voters the more valid the list will be IMO. After all the work you've done so far on it.
And if you think that how you vote will give us a list you don't care for, how do you think the list will come out if you don't vote? Then you might be left thinking "if only I had...
Well, I don't really have a record of it. First of all I did most of the lists as a large lump once I finished mine. Since then I have added about 5 lists, but once I integrated them I obviously lost the previous standings (doing this in XL).
At one point I did make labels for the scores so...
Jay just got his in.
So we have Thi still (obviously).
I am also waiting on Jason L and Brook.
I will absolutely have to stick to the deadline I stated above, but I urge those 3 to really try and put something together. It is tough, but don't get too hung up on feeling that your list is...
Well, all of OUR voters should have seen Sunrise, but perhaps another viewing will "straighten out" their opinions. ;)
I'm still waiting on the same 4 voters and I'm really hoping they can come through for me by this SUN night. I am setting the final deadline to hear from them at 1 week from...
Brook K
Jay E
Thi Them
Jason L
Then there were 4
Jason contacted me and said it will probably be 2 weeks due to his cirumstances. I am hoping that we can have his be the last list in and then can quickly get to the announcement of the final list.
I haven't heard from Brook yet.
sure, i can do that...as long as you can be trusted not to try and influence the other voters. ;)
Check your PM here in a second.
BTW, my plan for the final thread (I will start a fresh one for the final results) will be to talk to the voters FIRST and possibly arrange some comments for...
Well, I've had to drive half of the guys with a whip as it is. ;)
It's been a harder road than it seemed it would be back in JAN. However, it's getting close and I think the final results will be an interesting read, especially for AFI challenge participants.
Hopefully, Dome, you will go back...
With 11 voters in, 5 to go, let me just say that 49 films have already had their shot at being the #1 film officially eliminated. :)
But throughout the list, from top to bottom, it's a real dogfight between some films. This includes the top 5. The last 5 lists can really shift some things...
yes, I just got it. :emoji_thumbsup:
The list of shame shrinks ;)
DonMac
Brook K
Jay E
Thi Them
Jason L
We know that Jay and Thi are alive and working on theirs as well.
Here's how I approached it, sort of "bubble sort" method.
I first tried a very rough groupings of 10 (in Excel BTW).
I then sorted each 10 by themselves. I then took the top 2 and moved them up a group and the bottom 2 and moved them down a group. Then I repeated the process many times...
Okay, we have 9 voters done including myself.
Here is the list of the 7 we are waiting on...
BrianE
DonMac
Brook K
Scott Merryfield
Jay E
Thi Them
Jason L
Hopefully they are all trying to chip away at it, but I will PM or email the ones who have not posted their status in this...
Waiting on about half the voters still, but the serious pestering is about to begin.
And FWIW, I have spent about a couple of hours over the last week trying to get mine into order. Still not quite there but I will be by this weekend. Hopefully the others will too.
No one is ready to have...
Yes, but it evolved. :D
Where else but here to continue after we had some ideas on what to do?
I realize not everyone reads this thread...believe me. Of course some people never even got back to me on previous PMs/emails, so it's not just this thread. :)
I figured once it slipped off the map...
HELLO?
I've received 2!!!! lists so far. Come on guys, this is the last step after a year or more of work on it. Please take the time to get your final lists to me ASAP so we can wrap this up.
Thank you. :)
Let me add that Goldfinger made my final cut at #24, so it wasn't really me putting it on the final list here. I'm just defending its position in general.
I would like to reinforce one thing, the Bond credits, especially starting with Goldfinger, were an amazing cinematic invention, IMO...
George,
Email me at [email protected]
You can PM me at HTF if you prefer. I'm avoiding having the final lists posted to help add to the suspense/surprise a little. :)
Well, Goldfinger is the best of an iconic film, one that defined a sub-genre and launched the longest running series of...
No, I can pull out the "missed" list from the replacement vote. Intolerance was the last film to make it, with 76 points.
67 Once Upon a Time in the West
64 Shawshank Redemption
63 Blade Runner
59 Arsenic and Old Lace
57 Adventures of Robin Hood
57 Alien
56 Greed
55 Day the Earth Stood...
Also, feel free to discuss here the merits of the final 100 without them yet being ordered. Would you like to see the final scores on our revote? How do you feel about the fact that the revote list was filled with mostly replacement films?
Any non-participants have feelings on the subject as...
Problem 1 found. Brook originally voted for The Exorcist to be REMOVED from the original AFI 100. I slipped and added it to that list.
Shame on Brook. ;)
Okay, it seems as though when I posted the "untouchables" a few months ago (films that got no votes for removal) I must have made a...
Well, I was a bit wrong. Don could have put some films on the list if he had ranked them higher as it was very close around the 20th to 30th range. We also had a tie for 25th.
At this point I am breaking the tie with the criteria of which film was MENTIONED on the most lists.
With this in...
