I'm not saying that that is true or that it is not true. But people said the same thing about the pie fight in 'Strangelove' for years, and, from what I understand, that did screen somewhere shortly after Kubrick's death (I did not believe this myself until I read the playbill). So it's possible...
I saw a screening of that; it looked fantastic, but the sound was ugly. It seemed like nobody had done a clean-up on that. (I suppose it may have been the theater, but I don't think it was.)
