I agree you don't need to like football to enjoy the show, but I think it certainly helps. Especially when it comes to relating to the passion of the characters. Definitely not a prerequisite though. So I see they're gonna be re-airing season one starting on Sunday night. Does anyone know if...

Okay, predictable finale, but probably one of the weaker episodes of a great season. I think it would have worked better for me had they lost the game. While it wouldn't have been "feel good", at least it would have been more realistic and unpredictable. Probably could have made Coach Taylor...

Not sure of the credibility of this, but this column has 'Friday Night Lights' as "Pretty Good Chance of Renewal". Safe From Cancellation

Different strokes I guess. I certainly don't watch the show just for the "football", but I just found the Tyra assault in the way that it was shown to be more of a distraction than anything. But oh well, I'm just glad they didn't have her actually get raped. That could have been a jump the shark...

Good episode, but I didn't like how they intertwined the game with Tyra's assault/attempted rape. I didn't mind that they went there, but it took away from the excitement of the game. How many more episodes left in the season?

I agree. I've seen areas of New Jersey that look just like it.

I truly hate to recommend watching a movie on a regular network or cable station, but for those that have not seen the film that inspired the TV show, Friday Night Lights is on F/X tonight at 7:30 pm. Hopefully F/X doesn't butcher it too much. I would still suggest just renting the DVD...

I noticed that too, and Matt definitely said "Bradley", and it was Bradley's lodge they went to. No idea who Bradley is though.

Just got around to watching it. Great stuff this week. The scenes between Smash and Mama Smash were great. Even in the very limited role, the mom deserves some kind of emmy for her performance. The scene between Buddy and Street was well done too. Powerful stuff all around.

Or Riggins could become the next "Dauber".

How realistic. :rolleyes:No high school football team has more than a handful of underclassmen, let alone all the starters. Serencen is probably the only one who realistically could be a junior or lower since he was the backup QB.

Regardless of the ratings, I was wondering about this. What would they do for a season 2? Just have a new batch of seniors (not sure which players are actually seniors right now, but I assume most or all of them). Pull a "Coach" and have the coach and players go on to the same college?

Another great episode, although I thought they way overplayed the whole Tyra thing with her mom's boyfriend in the promos. The stuff with Street was done well and you really have to feel for the situation he and his family are in.

All good observations. The only thing I didn't buy was Riggins telling Lyla to go the cheerleading competition.

Good points Charlie, and I'll buy the argument for the coach making the decision, but I'm still not sure about Voodoo's decision to go to Dillon. Based on that scene where the coaches went to his house, he obviously had a lot of family support around him to "assist" in his decision, and even a...

I keep waiting for this show to completely fall apart for me, but it actually seems to be getting better. My one complaint is how they handled the whole Voodoo thing. While I like the way it ended, after seeing how he was, it didn't make sense to me why Voodoo would have chosen to play for...

I don't know if it is still the case today, but it certainly was in the late 80's in Odessa. Also, keep in mind, I'm sure there are people in the town that are able to go on with their life without knowing or caring about high school football...this show just doesn't focus on them.

I really enjoyed it. Earned a season pass. My only issue is they shouldn't have made that backup QB THAT much of a doophus. The transformation he made literally in the span of one play and one timeout was far too unbelievable.
