I also read that those with HBO on Demand will be able to see the episodes 6 days before they actually air. Could make things on these forums interesting. ;)
But the longer it takes to get to the actual punchline...the better the punchline needs to be. I've heard many jokes that took a LONG TIME to get the punchline only to be extremely dissappointed. At least if the joke itself was short, you don't feel as cheated. That said, I was thinking...
I'll watch every episode to the end, but I've pretty much accepted the fact that NOTHING will happen each week that I watch it. Especially this week's episode. They could have actually completely removed this episode from the lineup and we wouldn't have even noticed. I'd be okay with these types...
Not an entirely bad episode...but did we really need an entire episode about Artie? Especially when we're coming down the homestretch. Sometimes I get the feeling David Chase is running out of ideas...
In regard to Tony's "eruption" the point I've been (probably poorly) trying to make is that the "old" Tony isn't really back because the "old" Tony wouldn't have had to consciously come up with something to show everyone who's boss. It would have just happened.
On Vito: Joe Gannascoli was on NFL Radio yesterday (don't ask me why, but NFL Radio has him on every Monday and they DON'T talk about the NFL), and he said he has a major role this week, so I assume that means he's not dead (yet).
Exactly. And everyone in that room knew that as well. The looks on their faces weren't, "Hey, the old Tony's back!"...It was more, "Holy crap...Tony's completely lost it."
I thought that scene shows that he really has changed. The old Tony wouldn't have had to reach like that. As I said in an earlier post...Tony is losing control, and he knows it (and so does everyone around him).
I think that action just made Tony look weaker and desperate (and by the looks on the others' faces, I think they all felt the same way). And let's get real here...that guy should have pounded Tony. And if he was holding back because of who Tony is, the others would realize that, and only make...
No way...Christopher is too much of a hothead to be the boss. He's also very immature, but I suppose that could change. Either way, Chris would survive about two months as the boss. And by "survive" I mean stay alive.
Chris - All good points, but I guess I was just basing my thoughts on several of the doctor's comments. And the vibe with the doctor's just kept getting worse and worse. The one doctor all but said (on several occasions) even if he comes out of it, it won't be good.
Just based on next week's previews: It seems to me the writers cheated and Tony seems to be normal (at least mentally). Perhaps there is more to it, but I think it would be a major cop-out if there is no major neurological damage. Perhaps he'll at least be paralyzed?
I thought this at first as well, but the more I heard it, it just seemed it was Edie Falco changing her voice a bit. Perhaps to sound younger? Obviously the dream sequence was set back several years since the kids were much younger.
As someone who normally enjoys the more "emotional" episodes of this show, I wasn't moved by this episode at all. I can't really put my finger on it, but I guess the whole time I just kept thinking how Tony will get out of it completely unscathed. If it were later in the season, I would buy it...
I can't really explain why, but I was a little disappointed in the "Tony getting shot by Junior" thing. Perhaps I'm worried that it will take away some of the emotion of Tony's eventual demise this season? Other than that, I thought it was a great start to the season.
So is there any update on whether this will definitely be the last season? I really hope that if it is, it is known before filming the last few episodes. As it is, I'm concerned that they've already filmed at least half of the episodes without knowing if this is the end (and who knows what has...
