Seriously, I'll echo Jeff's comments on Canadians. I've lived near the border my entire life, and always am treated warmly whenever going to Canada. We are very lucky to have such fine neighbors.
While that wasn't the best-played hockey game I ever saw, there certainly was some drama at the end. The U.S. did better than anyone expected. I'm fine with Canada winning, but would have rather seen anyone BUT Crosby score the goal.
Right now, that is just posturing by the NHL to put pressure on the Russians to relax some of their player contract transfer rules and fees (the next Winter Olympics is in Russia). While putting the season on hiatus is a burden to NHL franchises, having its players participate in the Olympics...
Actually, I think the NBC hockey commentators have been doing a very good job. Ed Olczyk has caught a couple of things that were easy to miss -- such as a Canadian goal against Germany that went through the net, and a screwed up icing call by the refs in the Canada - Russia game.

I was rather disappointed in the Canada - Russia game. Like Scott above, I was really looking forward to this matchup, and it ended up being a one-sided blowout. The San Jose Sharks factor (Russia's goalie) doomed the Russian team, I guess.

Exactly. Hockey has never drawn good TV ratings in the U.S. It's a shame.
The game was very entertaining last night, so it is a shame that more people were not able to see it. However, at this point I doubt it would make much difference in future ratings for hockey.
