I've enjoyed every season of this show. I find the writing clever (if occasionally strained), the cast a delight and the whole package to be fun. I don't think the politics is heavy-handed; they're just having fun with current events, and making their show relevant to the times we live in.
I would definitely agree with your first two points, but I thought the commentary was done in a natural and sometimes humorous way. I wouldn't want to see that change.
I enjoyed the finale. There may have been one or two moments where credibility was strained, but overall, it was very satisfying. The ending, with Kara all alone while her friends are all enjoying the comfort of their loved ones, was poignant. Melissa Benoist proved to be more than up to the...
It was a terrific episode, which really showed how much Cat Grant was missed this season. They ought to just offer to fly her up to Vancouver every week to shoot the show.
The CW DC shows have 23 episodes a season (except Legends). I seem to remember Supergirl being scheduled for 23 this season, but IMDb has only 22 listed for season 2.
I thought this was a very good episode - better than the show has been lately. I liked seeing the characters act in character for a change! Kara's not ready to be a reporter if she thinks publishing that blog was the right thing to do. Snapper Carr is the only grown-up in CatCo, it seems. (And...
The disbelief among Kara and Alex was not believable. You spend the whole episode waiting for them to wake up. Alex's character, in particular, is not well-written this year. She used to be a lot more confident and professional.
Also, for a show that has done a great job of not objectifying...
The Mxyzptlk episode was fun. I like how they're using a lot of the Superman mythology and adapting it to Supergirl. It's not like there's ever going to be a Superman TV series where they can dive into this stuff, and can you imagine if they tried to use a concept as light-hearted as Mxyzptlk in...
It was a good episode, but calling this part one of the CW crossover event isn't really fair. Other than a minute at the end, it had nothing to do with the crossover.
Who else thinks Mon-El is the prince?
It was a very good episode, and the show continues to be very progressive -- Hank's comments about people not liking that which is different and referencing being in the body of a black man for 15 years were potent. And the Alex/Maggie relationship certainly seems poised to happen.
The newsroom...
Great stuff last night in the show. I keep saying this, but the tone of it is just right. I suspect we will see more of Clark/Superman. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Lois and Perry too.
I enjoyed the premiere very much. The change in the romantic subplot was abrupt, but otherwise the show was very strong. I really like that it is set (for all intents and purposes) in the same world as Superman: The Movie. This show, IMO, towers over the DC film universe.
Thanks for those, Adam. The new season looks terrific.
Here's a review of the season premiere that says it is "one of the best hours of superhero TV ever created."
