Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

Outstanding work, Dave. This is the best summation of the situation I have ever read, and I have been following this story since the first TV-on-DVD set arrived circa 2000. Let's hope that, maybe, if true, the Watchmen thing will at least start a chain of events that leads to the release.

See above discussion in this thread for rights and contracts for movies being different than those for TV shows.

Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

Dave, I'm curious as to your opinion on whether the show will ever be released on DVD? You've seen and read a lot more about these kinds of things than most others, so do you think it will eventually get worked out? Sorry to put you on the spot, but just wondering.

Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

I am starting to disagree. Why would someone as connected to the show as Adam West be taking matters into his own hands if there were even a hint that a legitimate release could happen in the next several years?

Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

I can't confirm or deny, but... come on. Look no further than last year's release of the 1977 animated Batman show to see that Warner has no problem releasing a show that could make the "Dark Knight" look silly. The '77 cartoon is probably the worst interpretation of the character. Just last...

Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

Booooo! Oh well. Warner and Fox have missed the window of opportunity for their maximum returns on this. Batman is not going to be as hot a property as he is this year for a very long time. Cheers to Adam West though for taking matters into his own hands.

Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

How great would it be if this was Time Life's complete series offering for the year? I agree that a Blu-Ray release would be great, but the number of old TV shows on Blu-Ray is pretty small, so the studios might hesitate. Here's hoping that the very long wait for this one means that all...

Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

That movie (with Adam West) was just re-issued on Blu-Ray on July 1 with new bonus materials. What the Bits is referring to is the TV show, which ran 120 episodes from 1966-1968. I wouldn't get hopes up until an announcement is made, but this is the most positive development on the release of...

Batman ('60s series) STILL NOT coming to DVD! (Major update post #52)

Wow! Thanks for the word Ron! (And Bill!) As I said in a post in the "shows you want on DVD thread," THIS is the moment of supreme Batmania, with the unparalleled success of the Dark Knight movie. By not having the series out in time for the movie, the studios lost a significant window of...
