The notice I saw on Atomic said they were scheduled to receive stock of Aliens on the 15th. I ordered all three at the same time, and they won't ship until the full order is ready to ship. Ah well, I've survived this long, another week won't kill me. Mostly.

AFAIK, Best Buy is no longer selling physical media.

I remember reading back in 1997 that there was a running joke on set that the cast and crew hoped Cameron would give everyone the day off on July 2 (or whatever the original release date was supposed to be) so they could attend the premiere. :laugh:

With 6 weeks left before street, I'm not sure what else can usefully be said about these 4K/UHD releases. I suppose we could speculate some more about the grain? :laugh:

As with Oppenheimer a couple weeks ago, I'm sure stock will be replenished and the pricing will return to normal soon, so hopefully people won't panic and run to eBay. Definitely a pisser though.

The press release had an error: only the preorder for the new Avatar releases went live on 11/20. The rest haven't shown up yet.

There are several actors and crew members who have worked with him many times, so he must have some endearing qualities.

Most likely not legit, but at the time it met the criteria of being both available and watchable. Probably looked as good as the version that was previously available on streaming.

I think the most exciting part about the way these digital and physical releases are split up is that, just when the "Where's the grain?!" discussion starts to quiet down on the digital releases, the physical 4Ks will drop and the whole thing can start all over again!

Since there is no standalone BD being released (at least there hasn't been one announced), the choice would be between a physical release and the streaming version. If you want the BD, you're going to have to buy the 4K to get it.

The movie itself was remastered and slightly altered (scene extension with Giovanni Ribisi at the end) for its 2022 re-release, so it's possible this is a new 3DBD authoring of that revised version.

Things that make you go hmmm.... Of course, the ocean-based Na'vi of the second movie are all teal.
