I haven't heard. But, I think anyone that has more than two brain cells to rub together can agree that the source format needs to be 1080p. Even if the hardware has to play catch-up.

I don't think there's any chance to getting just one format at this point. It's way to far into the game. I believe the best we can all hope for, is a single unit that will play both formats. Just like the DVD units today that are capable of DVD, SACD, DVD-A, CD, etc.

I totally agree with you. I've always thought that the "extras" on DVD's were overrated by many. It's the feature I care about, and it's the feature that I want to look and sound fantastic.

As I posted in another thread; I think a video scaler such as the DVO iScanHD is capable of doing the conversion. It has a DVI input, and RGB output.
