She is Tim Cook's darling. He loves her.
I don't remember exactly what I said about her 6 years ago. However, Carlo puts it into perspective quite nicely. Better vloggers have come along who actually do in-depth reviews instead of just opening boxes.
I deleted my rant on iJustine as I have already talked about her negatively ad nauseam.
I will say that her success doesn't fall under normal guidelines for how women become successful in journalism.
Simply put: she had a camera, was in the right place at the right time, is pretty to look at...
Hi Nelson!
I am not quite sure what her arrangement with Apple is. I think most reviewers who receive Apple products have to return them. iJustine seems like a unique situation for, as you stated, she always has several current models sitting in the background in her videos. When the iPads...
I don't consider iJustine to be reputable. Her entire shtick is the opening of product, screaming with delight, and gushing over it. Rarely, are her reviews in-depth.
Additionally, I have never, ever, seen her give a negative review of any product.
She's pretty much an "influencer" rather...
First sale that I have seen on the new HomePod. $285
https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/02/02/grab-apples-new-homepod-for-285-with-this-limited-time-deal
Marques has become my favorite YouTube vlogger. I am extremely impressed with not only his forthright style of reviewing but with the added graphical touches the he has been bringing to his videos over the past year. The mini speakers talking to the HomePod at the start was very clever and...
Nelson,
It's amazing that after all these years, Siri is still the worst voice assistant out there. This is an Apple product, for God's sake.
As far as what device will answer your "Hey Siri" requests? I am not certain how that works but if I ask my HomePod Mini "Hey Siri" and my phone...
Hey, Doug!
You have cited one of the rumors about what would be included in this device which was a touch display on top of the device.
However, this is what I presume happened...
The initial Homepod was pretty much a failure for Apple. And maybe failure is not a good word, but it didn't...
This announcement comes as a huge surprise.
Yes, it was talked about and rumored but nobody thought it would be announced this week.
Kudos to a slightly $50 lower price point. The article does state that this price saving comes with a few sacrifices over the original speaker.
Quite frankly...
Carlo, I fully agree with the privacy aspect.
At least you can have confidence in Siri keeping your conversations private.
Can't say the same about Alexa or Google.
You have Sonos speakers that are overall more expensive, but I would suspect have much better sound quality to them. They integrate with both the Alexa and Google ecosystem as far as their "smart" features are concerned.
That's your higher-end in the "smart speaker" field
Then below that, you...
I am so happy I didn't buy into Homepods.
I am truly sorry to see them go, but I thought they were overpriced (as every Apple product is) and competing in a market with lots of other wireless offerings including Sonos (which I am heavily invested in).
Raul, congrats! They are great speakers.
Slowly, you will find yourself integrating more Sonos speakers in your home.
I have four Play:5 speakers, two subs, and a Playbase. Exceptional quality from all speakers.
Every review that I have read that puts the Google Max up against anything in its class, buts the Max at a loss. I suppose the fact that they did not move around the room is the most revealing part of that test.
Really enjoying reading this thread. Most interested in hearing your opinions of sound quality on the HomePod.
And, Raul, you should have gotten two of those Sonos speakers for the price of one. That's the promotion right now.
Raul,
That was a tough choice, I am certain. Surprised you just bought one Sonos speaker instead of two at the same price as the HomePod. In a stereo array, two speakers really shine.
I think you are on the road to a new addiction. Once you buy a Sonos, you start buying more...
I hate to bring something like this to the forefront, but I believe in being fair to all parties involved.
This article claims that the $349 Homepod is a $499 Play:5 Killer
Now THAT takes some balls --- but if true --- WOW. I own four Play:5 speakers (in two stereo sets) and I am amazed with...
I can tell you from experience if you go with Sonos, you will not be disappointed. Not only do their speakers sound phenomenal, but their app does an excellent job of integrating all your subscribed music services PLUS a plethora of Internet radio stations (via DASH) into an all-in-one experience.
Mark,
Very good read.
My problem with Apple these days is that they are always late to the party. Instead of being an innovator, they just seem to copy others.
That being said, when Apple does release a product, it generally outshines everything else.
It's just that they are now in the...
