I'd like a new transfer of 10 on a 4K disc. When the Blu-ray disc was released, several people judged it little better than the DVD so I didn't buy it. As Warner's standards have improved so much since the early days of high definition transfers, I'd be very interested in a 4K disc and I suspect...
I'm sorry but The Mask Of Dimitrios is not a strong contender. The elements are in poor condition and consequently the film had to wait ages before being released on DVD-R. I love the film and would be overjoyed if Warner suddenly discovered previously unknown pristine elements.
My 3-D request from Warner Archive is Second Chance. Any film with both Robert Mitchum and Linda Darnell is worthy of serious attention. Throw in 3-D and you've got an essential purchase.
I'm not a Criterion fan either. I wish Warner Archive would stop giving them transfers and instead released themselves at normal prices films like High Sierra, The Asphalt Jungle and The Breaking Point.
The other day I noticed that The Thief Who Came To Dinner was a Warner Brothers production. I'd like that to come out on Blu-ray. I don't remember much about the film but I do recall vividly how Philip Lathrop lit Jacqueline Bisset.
I wonder how many millions it would cost to bring that up to Warner Archive's Blu-ray standard. The DVD-R is not encouraging.
That looks like a bootleg. Amazon don't mention Warner in their product description.
I'm sure you must have noticed that Warner Archive is constantly being criticised for not releasing on Blu-ray disc far more films from the golden age!
I'd snap up each and every one of those titles on Blu-ray disc. I've heard there are rights issues preventing a release on disc of both The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs and Ice Palace. I'm not sure what the situation is with The Bramble Bush other than it's on YouTube but not on disc!
Yes, I'm a glass-half-full man myself. I count myself very fortunate to be able still to buy high quality discs of films like The Adventures Of Don Juan and Ziegfeld Girl.
Ah, yes! The stunning and vivacious Lucille Bremer!
How about Minnelli's missing melodrama The Cobweb with a star studded cast including three people I like a lot: Richard Widmark, Charles Boyer and Adele Jergens . . .
. . . . plus a couple I don't like very much but tactfully will not name!
