It is not only modern, young audiences who find 2001 boring. When the film was first released, large numbers of people found it boring. Many others found it pretentious, and their response was strengthened by Kubrick's Playboy interview which remains a collector's item.

I love Casablanca and can watch it every year but it's not my favorite Bogart film. I prefer To Have And Have Not. I don't find Casablanca "goofy" but the dialog could have been given one last polish, Some of it's excellent but some of the lines are real clunkers.

Not just you. For me, and it's obvious some people are going to disagree with me, Dana Andrews could not play raffish, disreputable types. In State Fair, Fallen Angel and Where The Sidewalk Ends, he comes across as prematurely middle-aged, not disreputable. Just think what Tony Curtis, ten years...
