It’s time to get back to talking about The Maltese Falcon 4K/UHD.

Then you have to make do with what you have in your setup. We all have to make compromises from time to time.

The Maltese Falcon was shot on a sound stage without many outdoor scenes and with a cast of actors not making much money at that time. The director was his first film so he didn’t cost much money.

Last night, I watched the first 30 minutes again on Vudu with my LG OLED and didn't notice any brightness fluctuations. With that said, I can tell the actual 4K/UHD video presentation is superior to that Vudu 4K/Dolby Vision stream. I expected that observation as streaming is limited...

I think VUDU is down because I can’t get it to load on either my Roku or using the VUDU app on my AppleTV unit.

I have LG OLEDs in my HT setups, but I never use their apps to view Vudu. I have standalone equipment such as Roku and AppleTV. From what I gather those devices work better than the LG app. Perhaps, some people with experience with both the LG app and standalone devices can offer some comments.

What makes you think many movies were made for one million dollars? Most movies were made for less than that amount in 1941.

George Feltenstein has stated more than a few times that WA budget isn't what it used to be back in the DVD days when it comes to bonus material.

It's possible, but at least they're not just bonus material on another title's 4K/UHD release. The profit margins for these home video releases are smaller than many people think they might be.

IMO, it was a matter of costs and Warner decided it wasn't worth it. The days of spending money on bonus material has ended for the major studios.

I had a similar reaction yesterday morning.

As Eddie Muller stated, The Maltese Falcon was the beginning of the film noir movement.

Most of us here are videophiles, though, there are some audiophiles among us.:)

Interesting information, but I think you're in the minority on this issue of wanting to hear hiss.

What is your issue with reducing the hiss?

Thank you for your review. One of my favorite all-time movies. I received the 4K/UHD today, but haven't watched it yet. I did sampled the 4K digital last night when my iTunes HD digital upgraded to 4K/DV.
