The Criterion mystique has lessened for me over the years. Ten years ago I held them in higher regard than I do today.

With the current output the studios have been releasing classic films onto Blu-ray and 4K disc, I'm glad that Criterion is releasing some of them on those formats.

It’s called arrogance!

And, it won't be the last time either.

It is appalling, knowing that we're much more educated when it comes to aspect ratios today than we were 50 years ago!

I think pretty much all of us agree that the Criterion Blu-ray should have been released in widescreen. The problem is Criterion never cared to correct their error in judgment with the 1.37 ratio, by not releasing it in 1.66 or 1.85 ratio.

There is a sense of arrogance with them and have demonstrated it over the years. I would have been fine with 1.66.

Hell, obviously they felt that way without having to say it out loud. They're an arrogant company.

IMO, Criterion has come down a peg over the last several years.
