Okay, just got done with The Empire Strikes Back and after viewing both versions, I prefer the remastered one over the theatrical cut. Heresy, to some, but that's how I truly feel about it.
Well, I'm not sure I agree with you about Return of the Jedi, but I will be watching this again, twice more on Tuesday so I'll either post my thoughts then or after I watch all six films this week.
I don't agree that they're that bad. They're just not in the class of the original three films. As someone already stated, the action scenes and special effects make them watchable to me even with their warts.
I'm watching them in IV, V, VI, I, II, III order because it's been many years since I viewed the original three films with the theatrical cut. Furthermore, since I'm viewing those first three films twice, I needed to get that chore out of the way beforehand so I can just relax and watch the...
I just don't understand all of the hatred over those exact changes. I'll feel differently about the Vader and The Emperor scene because it was more dramatic for the audience to see on the screen what was going on in Vader's mind than having him scream out "Noooo". :)
