    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

I should have prefaced my "'major' markets" statement above with U.S. 'major' markets. Im sure north of the border the ratings are probably off the hook as Andrew mentioned. Im glad to see a Canadian team in the finals after such a long drought. Ive always been grateful to Canada for providing...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Well, not that I expected anything different, but the ratings came out and they are pathetic. Story sigh Too bad really. While these two teams aren't in any of the 'major' markets, the games are very entertaining and more people should be watching them. But, they are not. What is going to...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

WOW! Philly ties it at 1:37 to go! :23 seconds to go. I thought this one was over.

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Not even close. Maybe I should have clarified. The impression I got from the Iginla photo was a racial slur, Iginala, a black athelete being compared to a gorilla. WAY over the line as Paul mentioned as well. However, I am not painting all Sharks fans that way. That would be as ignorant as that...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

What is with the home teams in this Flames/Sharks series? Can anyone win at home? This is a bit off topic, but did anyone notice the fan last night holding a picture of what appeared to be a gorilla or monkey with Jarome Iginla's name at the bottom? It was just a flash and I didn't get to see...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Wow. Calgary scores more goals in the 1st two games of this series than the Av's did the entire series. Looks like you can score on Nabokov. Despite my Av's being knocked out, this is a pretty entertaining series to watch. Especially watching the Flames take it to the Sharks in game 2...

NP Jeff, and your right, it was a classy move while keeping tradition. :emoji_thumbsup:

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Exactly, Sakic never 'hoisted it', he just handed it off to Bourque who did the 1st 'hoist' over the head. Of course, the cup is always handed to captain 1st, I was just refering to the actual hoist.

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Bummer. Hope the Av's enjoy their off season. Sharks deserve credit for outworking the Av's and they are the worthy team to advance. Went 2 for 4 in the second round. Nothing to brag about. For the conf. finals, I predict Philly over Tampa in 6 and San Jose over Calgary in 5. Calgary is a...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

The jinx is on! :D Fell asleep last night watching the overtime and didn't wake up until it was over and they were showing the replay of the goal. Wow. As mentioned earlier, it appeared that Calgary was the hungrier team. Brutal cheap shot by Hatcher, but, Karmic justice was served as he had...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

I guess I would also have to pose the question to Wings fans if they are rooting for the Av's for a potential matchup?

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

I hear ya. It is a very difficult thing to do for any Av's fan. A conundrum to say the least. I know that when I'm watching tonights game, I will probably be rooting the Flames. I guess I have to look at it as a win win situation. If the Flames win, I'll be glad that the Wings lost, but if the...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

I don't know about you Casey, but suddenly, I find myself rooting slightly for the Red Wings. I know Im looking too far ahead and its a long shot, but if the Av's can pull of the unthinkable and win the next two, I would much rather see a Av's/Wings matchup as it may be the last for quite awhile...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

A quote after the Av's game 5 win over the Sharks... "They didn't do anything special," defenseman Kyle McLaren said of the Avalanche. "We pretty much gave it to them. They threw everything at us... We usually don't sit back and wait. That's surprising." Nice way to give the Av's credit...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Whew. Glad the Av's didn't get swept. I'll start getting excited if they can take Game 5 in San Jose, but the Sharks still looked impressive defensively last night so I don't think they fold.

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

You know, I could see that happen as well. But, (and no offense meant toward either teams fans) would that be good for the game? Maybe, look at the NFL and the diversity they have now as oppossed to the dynasties of the 49er's, Cowboys, Steelers, etc. Will the hockey fans tune in and watch? I...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Paul, Maybe my example wasn't the greatest, but thats what I meant. Like in the current Av's/Sharks series, the San Jose fans are booing Forsberg when he touches the puck and the Av's fans are starting to boo Hannan when he touches the puck or plays against Forsberg. Im not too sure what...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Is it just me, or does the whole booing thing seam to be the thing to do now. I mean, there has always been booing, but its running rampant now. I was at Game 2 for the the Av's/Stars series and every time Turco touched the puck, man did he get an earfull.

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

The Sharks are playing 'lights out' and skating circles around the Av's. I think they are frustrating the Av's into some retaliation penalties (at least in games 1 & 2). I give the Sharks all the credit in the world for outplaying us. They appear to be the real deal with a goalie thats standing...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Well, Game 3 between the Avs/Sharks appears to be on ESPNHD tonight in case anyone was wondering. Avs need to suck it up and match San Jose's intensity if they have any hopes of pulling this off. Im starting to grip. GO AVS GO!!

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Im with you as well Casey! Im praying for a Wings/Av's Conference-finals match-up. And of course, an Av's win in game 7 (its our turn this time):emoji_thumbsup:

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Went 3 for 4 in both conferences. Round 2 predictions Tampa over Montreal 6 games Philadelphia over Toronto 7 games Detroit over Calgary 6 games Colorado over San Jose 5 games I thought it was funny last night how the ESPN announcers were calling Tucker for his embellishment on...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

This Flames/Canucks game is one of the most intense games of the playoffs so far that Ive seen. One hell of a comeback by the Flames to force overtime. Those fans are rocking that place. I wish we had such vocal/enthusiastic fans here for Av's game. Go Flames!

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Amen to that. I think if they enforced the obstruction, hooking, grabbing, tackling and mugging better it would let the stars of the game shine more and draw more fan base. Being an Av's fan, I know I get frustrated watching Forsberg get mugged nightly as Im sure you guys do watching your...

    2004 NHL Playoffs: Round 1

Doesn't it depend on where the offensive player was to start with? In other words, for it to be a 2 line pass, the receiving offensive player has to already be across the 2nd line. But if the puck goes in 1st, I think its fair game.
