Just a nit: There is no such thing as a "premium" It's either the XBOX 360 or the XBOX 360 Core (as in stripped down). I know a lot of ads refer to it as the Premium, but that is not what MS calls it.
Nope, it's more of a 31"-32" 16:9. I have a 34", it's a bit bigger than a 36" 4x3 in 16:9 mode. Very close to the 40" 4x3. Now if it's 480i 4x3 then the image is larger (Halo in 720p on 4x3 is banded on ALL sides in 4x3 HDTV, just like any programs in 4x3 on a 1080i HD channel). The only...
It is because the old cables have an HD and non-HD setting switch on them. The Monster THX component cables (which I use) have no such switch and are designed for HDTVs only. The TV is garbled because it can't display the HD signal the 360 is now sending. Since the 360 benefits from having...
For those of you even considering an HD DVD drive: http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/multime...112231012.html Blu-ray WILL be the winner in the HD disc wars. MS isn't dumb. They secretly know it.
The optical output port is built onto the main A/V cable connector. HOWEVER, you do need to get a digital optical cable and connect it to a Dolby Digital ready receiver. Be sure to doublecheck the sound options on the Dashboard setup menus.
Then you don't like: Panasonic JVC Philips/Magnavox Samsung Hitachi LG/Zenith Sharp Pioneer Yamaha Mitsubishi Thomson/RCA Now, I challenge you to name beyond 5 HD DVD supporters who make actual players. Currently there's only: Toshiba Thomson/RCA Samsung NEC Sanyo Of...
You mean the mockup? Or the non-working $799 one. Microsoft tried to demo it. Nothing happened (shades of the infamous Win98 USB scanner BSOD). Stay away from HD DVD. Blu-ray is the TRUE next gen disc format. This is coming from a die-hard MS team member.
Not exactly. while the external drive will allow access to film content it will not be used for gaming. The BRD-ROM drive on the PS3 will be used for games. It also allows MS to offer an add-on BRD drive in the future. I have a feeling most XBOX 360 owners will ignore this useless dongle...
Thanks to Chad & George for addressing my question. :) Any others? Perhaps a future update will enable 16x9 gameplay. An interview with someone involved with backwards-compatibility said the emulators would be tweaked and updated as necessary.
PS: Besides, no one really answered my question about Halo #1 running in 16x9. What else am I gonna talk about? :D I'm just annoyed. I know people personally who have/are doing this, buying the system just to sell it for a higher price. It just rubs me the wrong way...like people who spell...
That sounds lazy? That sounds like someone who deserves to be taken advantage of? People like Clinton or Scott_lb or even me up until a few days ago? :frowning:
Well, sorry to put it like this Tony but you and those like you are a HUGE part of the problem. A LOT of people are buying them up simply to sell them for profit, leaving true gamers out in the cold (literally). I find this reprehensible. Greed has damaged this launch and the SAME thing will...
Geez you guys. No patience. You honestly think the situation with the PlayStation 3 will be any better? The PS2 launch was even WORSE. Hell, a lot of places are sold out of XBOX 1s! I was lucky to get mine, I've had it a total of 4 days. I was prepared for a month or more. No way in...
Anyone get "Halo" #1 working in 16:9? My Sony XBR supports both native 720p & 1080i and both are pillarboxed 4:3 for "Halo". "Halo 2" of course is 16:9 in any mode. But the Bungie site posted word that "Halo" #1 would be upconverted to at least 720p with it being widescreen 16:9 for the first...
"Regional" as in "most of the country". Here in San Diego, stores were pre-empting asking customers by posting signs that read "XBOX & PLAYSTATION 2: SOLD OUT"
I seriously doubt that. I recently picked up one from Circuit City. BTW: there is no "Premium"...it's just the XBOX 360. The "core" version is just that: a stripped down version of the normal "full" system.
Well they have been demoing Blu-ray Disc prototypes with the Qualia 006 (drool). As someone who doesn't have (but has access to..read: relatives) a Sony SXRD KD-SR60XBR1, it's no doubt in my mind one of the finest TVs I have ever worked with. HDMI DVD output is phenomenal. One of these days...
Actually they do...here's the interesting thing: It downconverts the signal to 1080i. Then it displays that at 1080p because that is the native resolution of the display. Bass-ackwards, I know. Even the Sony reps I was talking to admitted this.
