Runar, it's dulled when it needs to be. However, I remember the film being that saturated in the theater. I thought it was a nice change from the over-done Saving Private Ryan method, which is so copied today.
Okay, here it is, a brief comparison of the US edition, and the Canadian edition. Let's start with comparing the screencaps posted earlier by Runar and new ones taken by myself (I tried to time them as best as I could): TVA Edition: Universal edition: You'll notice that the US...
I should be getting mine from Amazon.com I always order from Amazon.com so I get the American version, and have never once gotten a Canadian product. But if what you saying is true, I'll flame 'em for it. However, it is curious the time frame in which all this happened to you. I ordered...
You know FutureShop has a price protection policy on everything. I got 40 bucks back on an X Files DVD set, because they dropped the price of it a week after I bought it. As long as you have the receipt, they can't do anything but give you back the difference. Also, if anybody has the US...
Kev, compress the e-mails using Photoshop (if you got it) or a similar program, so that each file is about 30-40k. Then you should be able to send it. If not, try this iUpload.
The whole PAL to NTSC thing sounds all fine and dandy. But I wonder if anything special is done to my Monty Python and Fawlty Towers DVDs look better? Or maybe I just don't notice it too much, because the material is from the 70s.
Dodgy, if you have PowerDVD trying watching the film frame by frame in a scene were there is lots of movement. That's where i noticed the ghosting anomalies. When a scene is still, it looks fine. However, we stuff is moving, it looks very fake for some reason. I hope others are getting this...
I've changed this post, because I want to get ahold of TVA, ask them about the transfer. However, I cannot find any sort of customer service e-mail or phone number. Their website is no help, as it only has a link to an upcoming movie release. So the question is, does anybody know how to obtain...
I'm strongly considering importing the Universal version now from Amazon.com Which is a shame, because I had high hopes for this Canadian edition. Less money to buy them here, then to import.
Well I'm only into 15 mins of the Canadian version of the Pianist, and am already disappointed. There seems to be something wrong with the transfer, as if they could not accurately adapt the film to 29.9 frames a second. About every 3 frames there is a ghost effect that occurs. Initially I...
Needless to say this thread has sparked my curiosity. I just got the three disc version today. I'm gonan go watch it now on my PC, see if anything seems off or what not.
Well I figure one extra disc of features, and a third with the films soundtrack make up the lack of DTS for me. Also the cover for the Canadian version is 1000x better then the US cover, so I'm sold on the Can version.
