I think the pacing would have suffered if Vol 1 was "sequentialized".

For me, there was never any doubt of Bea killing Bill. It was about "when and how," not "if."

Also, having the Verdita segment first allows for the "Pu$$y Wagon" sight gag, which gets more laughs later as Buck is introduced and dispatched when the Bride regains consciousness and escapes from the hospital.

Yup, just about gives away the store, that extended trailer.

I will say that I was so glad I didn't see some of the extended trailers of KBV2 that they showed on Charlie Rose last night because I know it would have ruined many chapters for me.

Could be, I'm operating on 3 hours sleep... I think the comparison was "Jack Kerouac meets Charles Dickens" for Carradine's autobiography.

Caught the Charlie Rose interview last night. Tarantino sure can talk up a storm, but you have to love his enthusiasm as the hour just flew by. You could tell that Charlie really likes talking to him. A few things to mention (more details if I can recall them) is that he said that if Kill...

You should probably check your local listings for the nearest PBS station on your TV's dial. My local PBS station channel 30 is showing Charlie Rose at 12:30 a.m. EDT tonight.

Re: Bill being from Australia. Beatrix's cover story as to why her father couldn't attend their wedding had Bill mining silver (I think) in Australia and couldn't be reached. That's it, we don't know if Bill is really from Australia, or if Bea just picked a real remote part of the world so that...

I wasn't all that crazy about the Superman/Clark Kent speech because to me, Superman isn't using the Clark Kent persona to be an indictment on the inferiority of the human race, rather the Clark Kent persona/alias is used so that he can have some downtime, and the reason Clark is a clumsy...

Actually, IIRC, Bill said that he feared that Beatrix was "made" and killed when she didn't return from the job, and he mourned her for 3 months, and in the 3rd month, while he was looking to find the bastards that killed her, he stumbled on finding her alive (and in the hospital, where he then...

Anyone think Daryl's eyepatch was see-through during the fight scenes because of depth perception problems could be painful to one or both of the combatants when blows and swords are thrown about.

For some reason, to me, that was the Yoda moment of the film. I also busted out with a LOL when I saw it again.

The "5 steps and die" is how the "5 points palm heart death strike" move works. Bill explains this during the camp fire scene with Beatrix. The truth serum was hokey device to speed up the punch line, I was rolling my eyes at it, as well as the comic book speechifying done by Bill/Tarantino.

I never thought for a second Beatrix was writhing in anguish on the bathroom floor.

I wasn't crazy about the loudness/music used when Beatrix bursts in Bill's home and is trying to stealthily locate Bill with gun in hand, mainly because it's too jarring. I thought the music should have been a bit more on the stealthy/sneaky side as well.

I did laugh when the cheesy dramatic kung-fu music kicked in as the Bride employs the "five-finger-stink-palm-exploding-heart" move and then the music kicks in once again as Bill then realizes what happened to him. That was pretty gaudy, but it ranks up to the "Beatrix as a schoolgirl" snippet...

Considering I watched Vol. 1 right before seeing Vol. 2, this is why I was underwhelmed by Vol. 2 on my first viewing. I won't recommend that people see Vol. 1 right before Vol. 2 for that reason.

But that would negate the pun. I saw it a second time, and it played a little better, but I still hated Bud's crappy job sequence, and the ending is still overly drawn out. The Pai Mei chapter is the most entertaining chapter, followed by "Elle and I" chapter. I did notice that...

I wouldn't be surprised to like this film on a second viewing now that I know where the bits that didn't do much for me end up. Maybe I'll see it again tomorrow if I have time. I do think that by seeing the first film right before seeing vol. 2 colored my viewing experience and expectations.

I had to laugh when the end credits showed David Carradine was listed as "Snake Charmer". Also, I would not put it past Tarantino to use "names" in the same way snakes shed their skins, so when the Bride takes on a name like Arlene, it's her way of shedding her Black Mamba skin.

Her name being bleeped never held such power over me when I viewed the films in terms of who the bride was at any given point in time. Perhaps I subscribe to the "a rose by any other name would still smell as sweet" camp. I think it's just something Tarantino tried too hard to make obvious in...

It wasn't Mandarin (which I understand), but it did sound like Cantonese, which shares only a few things with Mandarin, so I did understand just a few bits. Now, I did crack up every time Pei Mei stroked his wisps of beard hair. I wanted to know if the Bride wore any protection...

Color me disappointed. I felt it was overly indulgent and would have gained much by a heavier hand in the editing room. While the first volume moved at a much better pace (which I watched on DVD before I saw KBV2), the second volume just meanders like documentary footage that was never...
