The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

I regret to say that I'll pass on the 3rd Golden Collection until it can be confirmed that all 60 cartoons are properly mastered. Why? Because this reveals that if there IS a problem, there will be no replacement. Why WB can replace a whole disc because of missing music cues, yet not do...

The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

I'm hoping that the outcry over the first volume means that the 2nd volume is free of these problems. Still, I'm not getting my hopes up until there are reviews that confirm or deny interlaced video, DVNR, or cut prints. At the same time, it's looking like we may get some quite notorious...

The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

The big problem with claiming it's fraud is that there's still no coherent "agreement" between any of the parties. There's several different claims, ranging from it being the wrong masters, it didn't say uncut, and even it being said before that they'd be uncut. To me, it looks like they...

Actually, Jerry Beck put out a request to film collectors for lost footage for Top Cat. Also, it's "The Best of Scooby-Doo Movies".

The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

Warner stopped using snappers last year (except for one or two bargain bin releases). The Space Ghost DVD's are incomplete because of rights issues with interviewees. Also, even if WB licensed T&J out (they don't license out anything), it would still depend on the RIGHT MASTERS being sent...

Consider myself corrected, then. I will say that the Rocky & Bullwinkle season sets are terrific, even compared to the awful prints shown on TV. Also, I think Columbia and Universal have spent a lot of money restoring their own cartoons, yet haven't done anything with the restorations. Odd...

The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

I think the bottom line is that animation is rarely taken seriously by studios. Only fans like us seem to... I mean, only Disney has released a huge amount of animation to DVD. Warner Bros. concentrates on Hanna-Barbera. But it's more than just a problem with Warner Bros. Republic never...

The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

What we need to remember is that this is a problem with TWO releases. Now, look at the hundreds of WB releases that DON'T have editing issues. Remember that we got uncut DVD's of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde '31, The Public Enemy, Little Caesar, Battle of the Bulge, and Around the World in 80 Days...

Because of THREE edited cartoons? Is there nothing between not reacting and overreacting?

The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

A huge amount of films are remastered from elements other than original negatives. Casablanca, Citizen Kane, Singin' in the Rain (except for 2 reels), Easter Parade (except for one reel), Dr. Strangelove (40th anniversary edition), etc. were all remastered from either fine-grain positive...

The Warner Brothers chat ANIMATION question you have been waiting to be answered.....

THE SOLUTION FOR THE WARNER ANIMATION PROBLEM: 1. Include the 3 edited Tom & Jerry cartoons on Vol. 2 as a "From the Vault" type of bonus. This is more practical than replacing the disc. 2. Issue a disc with the SEVEN faulty Looney Tunes masters from Vol. 2: Gorilla My Dreams (DVNR), Book...
