Mark, LDI has worked on films that have only dupe negatives to work from. Their restorations of Sunset Blvd and Roman Holiday hardly look like dupes, despite being a little too smoothed. TCM's print of King Kong has really good image quality, despite having more than enough print damage...

Paul: Great ideas! Ackerman would make a great interview...I've always liked how he describes films and talks about those little nuggets of information. And Fay Wray needs to be contacted for SOMETHING on this DVD.
I was looking forward, but it looks like LDI has its hands full with restorations. On the other hand, I still have plenty of titles to buy, so I won't mind waiting a few months to get the best DVD edition. When Kong DOES come out, it should be reference quality. The sound was recorded...
