I have some friends who only stream movies and TV shows, they don't have any interest in owning discs. As for myself, I'm not buying very many discs anymore. It's the combination of discovering defective discs in my collection and finding that a lot of newer movies are holding up as well on...
I don't like the kiss because it was a cheap and easy way out. What was the point of Lois knowing if they were just going to make her forget? It was worse in Superman IV when they repeated this for one scene. I always wished they just let her continue knowing and found other ways to deal with it.
The end to S:TM works for me because Superman could save everyone but Lois. His grief allows him to travel back in time, it's a visual representation of time travel, he's not actually spinning the Earth backwards. I like to think that while he finally saves Lois, his other self is saving...
I love those first 2 Superman movies and I prefer the '78 one over II. The Donner Cut is interesting but it feels like a rough cut and the Lester version could have been better had they cut some of the goofy humour.
In most movies, the main character doesn't die, no matter how much danger he/she faces. It all comes down to whether we care about these characters or not in the particular form of media they are currently in. Comics and TV shows have an easier job because we have more time to follow their...
That's an interesting article. I can see what they're saying but I think I think the execution of those ideas was weak. The best scenes involving Clark/Superman in the movie were the ones featuring Clark and Lois. It wasn't the destruction and the neck snapping that bothered me in MoS, it was...
Those are all good points. Batman was the best part of the movie and I loved how Lex manipulated everyone. I don't mind exploring those themes but it's the execution of them that I don't like. The movie was overstuffed, too long, though i am interested in the extended R cut, and a bit too dark...
I have enjoyed the many interpretations of comic characters over the years, liked some more than others, but I don't like the ones that don't feel right for the character to me. I don't have to either. The worst Batman and Superman movies still are Batman and Robin and Superman IV. I didn't hate...
Superman just needs to be in better movies that are right for the character. Returns was too slavish to the Donner films and while I liked it, it wasn't that good. MoS gave us a darker, brooding Superman that turned some fans off. Some people don't want him to be the Boy Scout that he is, they...
My favourite of his is 300, his other movies, that I've seen, are a mixed bag. Watchmen is pretty good but I also didn't care for the graphic novel too much. What I like most about him is he knows how to shoot action scenes that are easy to follow and he's great with visuals. I just wish his...
Yeah, I hate the term "hater" and anyone who voices their complaints, whether you feel they are valid or not, against a movie that someone else loves is labeled that.
I liked BvS and wanted it to be great. but it had a lot of issues for me. There was a lot of good stuff mixed in as well. I'm...
I remember a critic, don't remember who, who said that in Superhero stories, it was important that the Hero was in disguise most of the time. He thought audiences might get tired of seeing the Hero in costume most of the time and gave them something to look forward to. Audiences need a breather...
I always liked seeing these characters meet up in comics and cartoons and have always looked forward to seeing them team up in a live action movie. Batman and Superman were always opposites, the darkness and the light, they may not agree on how to deal with threats but their end goals are the...
To me, the Clark secret identity was more about commentary on how people how people judge others based on appearances, than the disguise working in the real world . The nerdy guy can be the strong hero.
He wasn't in MoS.
It's going to be interesting to see how this does at the BO, right now the movie seems critic proof. I think this movie will be better on repeat viewings.
Snyder isn't the only problem with these movies, David Goyer deserves a big share of the blame. He's only written about 3 really good movies (Blade 1 & 2, Batman Begins), two of the other Batman movies were story credits. Most of his other work is pretty crappy. Warners should dump him too.
The...
His performance would have been better suited for the character he was rumoured to have been up for, it was just wrong for Lex.

I went this afternoon and I liked it, more than I did Man Of Steel. It's not as bad as the Critic's reviews are making it to be but it as still overlong, dreary and felt somewhat hollow at the end. Affleck and his Batman was the best thing about the movie. Superman suffers because the filmmakers...
Sounds like if you go in as a Batman fan, chances are you may like it more. Some of these reviews are confirming some of my fears about the movie but there's enough stuff in it that I may still like it. I think I'll just skip the I MAX and see it in a regular showing. .
Yup. I use reviews more as a guide to what the general consensus of a movie's potential quality might be. Critics can be biased towards certain genres and filmmakers. I may agree with them or I may not. The trailers look great but I've been fooled before. I hope I like it.
