Following up to myself....
"Infinite" is indeed in Atmos on the Apple TV on Paramount+, but I had to switch the language in the menu from "English," which was the default, to "English (US)."
Then shame on them for even showing "Atmos" on the menu screen in Android if they can't support it.
However, while "A Quiet Place 2" played in Atmos on my Apple TV, "Infinite" didn't, despite also saying "Atmos."
I'm not convinced companies actually test their software updates anymore. These kinds of things break all the time and it's maddening.
Oh and the Paramount+ app on my Android TV is currently not outputting Atmos from Paramount+, despite being indicated on the menu screen.
Someone needs to explain to Paramount+ what a movie is. Going through their A-Z list of movies brings up a ton of comedy specials and Smithsonian Channel shows.
It looks to be that way on Android TV, too.
Premium services need to understand the word "premium." Disney+ gets it. 4K, Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are standard features. When they launched they had the Star Wars films available this way. Paramount+ doesn't seem to have any 4K material, it's...
Is the compression improved at all? I remember watching old Twilight Zone's and Mission: Impossible's and the macroblocking was atrocious. It wasn't a bandwidth thing, as those same TZ's looked great on Netflix.
