What Remaining TV Westerns Do You Want to See Released?

Outlaws was one of the many rare shows aired on FoxNet in the late 80s, early 90s. Among some of the other series which they aired were Arnie, Roll Out, Judd for the Defense, Bracken's World, Cade's County, Karen, Blue Light, Peyton Place. Unfortunately, they didn't run their black and white...

What Remaining TV Westerns Do You Want to See Released?

When the show was transferred to tape in the 80s, they edited the episodes down by around 5 minutes, for I believe CBN. Those are the elements that have been available ever since as no one has wanted to bother going to the expense of remastering it from the original film elements.

Roy Rogers Show fell into public domain which means no one would bother spending the money to remaster the series from the 35mm elements, if those elements could even be located at this point.

Elephant Films released The Outcasts, not Outlaws, 2 entirely different series.

How about Gunslinger? Gray Ghost, which is told from the Confederate point of view would I'm sure go over well with the crowd which misses that era. I watched all of The Americans at LOC and its too wishy washy IMO, trying not to take sides. Interesting show but not very good.

What Remaining TV Westerns Do You Want to See Released?

Having watched a few of them at LOC and UCLA, I would have to say my top want would be The Road West. Other than the 2-part premiere, which was syndicated as a movie, to the best of my knowledge, no episodes have ever turned up in the collectors' world from 16mm, nor has it had any foreign...

Does Warner even license out their shows? Can you name any? I don't think they do.

Two insults in one posting. Not nice. I'm not one to go complaining to the moderators but seriously, what does consider the source mean? Can you disagree with me, as always, without resorting to digs? I think the only reason Cochise gets lumped in as a western is because of the name and people...

So is Man and the City a western because it takes place in New Mexico? Petrocelli?

Sheriff of Cochise and US Marshall are no more of westerns than Highway Patrol is. If you count them, then you should put Cade's County on your list.

I would love to see those as well but I couldn't even guess at this point as to where the negatives and 35mm prints reside for either show. CBS maybe?

Where who found the Hec Ramsey prints? Is someone working on it finally? Let me know as I have the off-air recordings in my queue to transfer.

There's a complete run of the show at LOC.

What Remaining TV Westerns Do You Want to See Released?

I'm not aware of any complete run on 16mm of Switch anywhere. Name of the Game resides in the UCLA archives but the condition of the prints was deemed not to be up to the standards necessary for a commercial release.

You would have to be more specific as to what other shows are "in the same situation".

35mm prints and negatives are M.I.A. There's a few out amongst collectors and a set of 16mm prints from ABC residing at UCLA.

Wichita Town is owned by Walter Mirisch, who is rich as Rockefeller, and has no interest in bothering with it for the amount of money it would bring in for licensing. Hec Ramsey was a big desire for Timeless. The good news is that usable elements have been located but the bad news is that...

What Remaining TV Westerns Do You Want to See Released?

I did see one. It was done on 2-inch videotape which was very experimental for a western, similar to what they did with the six taped Twilight Zone episodes. Interesting but it didn't really work.

What Remaining TV Westerns Do You Want to See Released?

Disney has always been very selective in releasing their material to the public. I know that in the early days of Disney Channel (years before cable came to NY), they ran tons of things from their library. If they weren't going to release all of their shows and movies during the golden era of...
