Although the magical properties of spice is not what I would call sci-fi, rather fantasy/space opera, like the force in SW (at least until TPM).
But I agree it is important to the story.
Yeah, I know, I bought my copies back in -78, but today, I see no reason why this fantasy, which is what is is, is so highly regarded. It wasn't good then, when I was 18 and thought it was, and it is no better now.
And is it really still considered 'great'? Honest question, I'm not in the...
Basically my critisism is on Herbert, not Villeneuve, the bad is the story, or lack of it. I might not have thought so at 18 when I read it, but I do now. There are lots of bad fantasy novels with many sequels, this is just one more. But back in -78, it wasn't.
I love BR2049, and Arrival, and...
Well, back after seeing it in the only IMAX we have here, which is a regular laser one, it was in what I guess is 1,90:1 throughout, no changing ARs.
It was extremely impressive, the cinematography, acting, sound (oh yes, WOW), but even as I have read the books and rewatched part one I did not...
Well, you guys are really selling it.
I read the books back in the 70s, saw the Lynch version, and mostly forgot, until the new version came out.
Wasn't all that impressed, although I usually like Villeneuve, and rewatched the other day in prep for tomorrow's show, and must say, still not that...
So I have tix for next week (28th), digital IMAX, so no 15/70, and I guess no 1,43 either. Still, the best I can get here.
Need to find time to rewatch part one first.
