The weird thing about the argument you guys are having? Re-read this... It's not Mel speaking. It's someone else (admittedly the president of Icon) talking about Mel's motives. Couldn't he have just over-stated the "without compromising the integrity one bit" line a little too much?

One point is that at the time when the book swere writtewn, people probably knew what was involved in a crucifixion, so there was no need to go into every bloody detail. But there are also Old Testament passages that are often considered by some people to be prophetic descriptions of the...

Tear of God, for one. The resurrection scene (holes in hands) for another.

This is the most violent film I have ever seen - Roger Ebert. But I just searched, and he hasn't reviewed Braindead/Dead Alive (preferring the NZ title), so perhaps his view would change.

And you thought The Passion was controversial? Wait until you see The Creation! I'd like to see Mel do more biblical stories, Old or New Testament, but I think he would be really unwise to try the creation - of course, that was just an idea by someone on this thread, so it's not like Mel has...

How each person chooses to spend their money is up to them, and it is none of our business. But it wouldn't surprise me if Mel already gives a considerable amount to charity as a matter of routine.

My favourite is the (joking) theory that he was writing he names of the Pharisee's mistresses.

Just for clarification - I am a Christian, so I understood it. I was thinking about other audience members without that background. Chuck - I was wondering how long it would be before someone would quote Dogma. I love that line.

OK - I'll just clarify this, because I've been quoted a couple of times. When I said I wasn't talking about context for all Jesus's past. I wasn't talking about going through the whole he-who-is-without-sin scene. I was talking about the need for more context, more explanation for one specific...

You know, when Mel was being interviewed by Diane Sawyer, and he said it was 2 hours of suffering and 10 seconds of resurrection, I thought he was joking. And he was. It was more like 15 seconds of resurrection. I really was amazed by this film. Perhaps I'm just desensitised to violence, but...

Church marquee: 'Jews Killed Jesus' Sigh. Sometimes I am ashamed to be associated with these people.
