I have no quibbles about the quality of the musicals in the most recent Warner set. Even with the Ultra-Resolution Technicolor transfers of THE BAND WAGON and EASTER PARADE, I noted color fluctuations in individual scenes, and none of these new musical releases had the amount of misregistration...
Gosh, Corey, don't leave out RICH, YOUNG, AND PRETTY. I watched it this afternoon on laserdisc, and the Technicolor is astonishing. This would make a spectacular DVD.
I'm a huge fan of the lesser celebrated MGM musicals like THE BELLE OF NEW YORK, I LOVE MELVIN, TWO WEEKS WITH LOVE, and SUMMER HOLIDAY. I have them all on laserdisc, but would love to see them in sharper DVD transfers. Of course, it still astonishes me that THE PIRATE hasn't undergone...
