    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Earl, the HK 7200 is a damned fine machine at a no brainer price right now! But if it were me, I'd keep using the 3802 for now as a pre/pro and sink that money into a power amp (or amps) instead. That is one thing that will NEVER become obsolete, and you can always upgrade your pre/pro...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Sorry guys! I just got a little carried away there. To the original poster of this thread, Eric, in all seriousness, it is your money. If possible, try to extensively audition them both if you can. I still stand by my original statement though. For $600 or so new now, the 3803 is truly a...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Eric Lo, I have now became convinced, finally saw the light, and changed my mind. By all means, get the 4802! You couldn't possibly spend $1500 any better. I mean, after all, you will be getting processing that is only 2, going on 3 generations old now. Not to mention a reciever with an amp...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Shiu, the 4ES will make a great pre/pro for movies. Your Adcom 565 pre should have "processor in" switch on the front panel with corresponding input and outputs on the rear panel jack pack. It is basically like a tape monitor loop. Hook the preouts of the 4ES to the inputs of the processor...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Well David, I throw in the towel here on this after this post, as I see now it is pointless. Could you not clearly hear the diffrence between your PE receiver and the Sunfire power amp, even when not "taxing" the amps through volume as Marcelo T just pointed out? I just don't see how you can...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Well David, all I can say is that if you can't hear the obvious difference between a receiver and a seperate power amp, then you do not need one in the first place. Have you actually ever tried it yourself? I'm going to take a guess that you haven't. If you take a poll here on this, I...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Well David, with all due respect, do you REALLY believe that the analog preamp 2 channel "direct" section of a 4802 is so much superior to the 3803's as to be enough of a difference to overcome the SIGNIFIGANT difference of a seperate, external power amp paired with a 3803 over the 4802's own...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Well, it looks like I inadvertantly opened up a can of worms here. Marvin quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Most ANY seperate power amp will outshine the 4802's...

    Denon 3803 vs 4802R

Eric, the 3803 arguably has a better pre/pro section than the 4802, which is what you would be using it for anyway. It has better DACs for sure, maybe a better DSP too. About the only advantage to the 4802 is that it has 2 DSPs to the 3803's 1, probaly because of THX. Most ANY seperate power...
