ST:V is the only one of those 6 I won't be owning on disc (at all) -- I do have the iTunes digital, which presumably upgraded to 4K (for free), but only because it came bundled in a great deal for all 10 pre-Abrams-reboot/alternate-timeline films, LOL.

Maybe it's just where I'm coming from wrt Trek, but feels like some may be taking these Trek films a tad too seriously.
For me, the TOS cast shows and movies have never really been quite *that* completely serious (unlike some other sci-fi shows/films, including perhaps some of the more recent...
Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting all grain management is (all that) bad/wrong, eg. Warner seems to do plenty of that too... probably even w/ their WAC titles... but what they've been mostly doing over the past decade or so haven't been nearly as controversial as what Paramount had been and...
Yeah, but if there's noticeably substantial grain scrubbing/massaging/management, that could very well still be Paramount's edict (more or less)... as that seems to be their prevailing MO... That's why many of us have become wary of anything Paramount releases...

Yeah, I previously passed on nearly all the BDs of these 6 films, except the later, 4K sourced/remastered TWOK, because they were so mediocre/poor -- Paramount should never have released them that way, again excepting the later BD version of TWOK.
Of course, that was nothing new/unusual coming...
I might end up only adding VI to my set of first 4, if they'll actually upgrade the director's edition extra of the iTunes digital to 4K, which is not that likely of course -- if not, then I guess I'll probably also eventually add the standalone TMP 4K w/ director's edition.
Not sure I'll...
