I think that's part of it. Several here seem to have jobs that allow them to watch while they work. I'm not that lucky. I'm also not really willing to watch films on a computer or my iPod. If I'm going to watch a film, I want it projected on my big screen with full surround sound. ;)

It was rumored that Jason Voorhees was supposed to make an appearance in this episode, but it apparently couldn't be worked out. Personally, I'd think an appearance by Freddy Krueger would be more appropriate in a "dream" episode, but nobody asked me.

I had much the same reaction a few years ago. Bought it blind based on the raves I'd read here then was decidedly underwhelmed when I actually watched the film.

With horror, mediocre is sometimes the best you can hope for. But I enjoyed both The Descent and Dog Soldiers. The Descent 2 is coming out next year (released in the UK in February 2009). Not sure when the US release will be, or if it will be theatrical or DTV.

That is a shame, as it really adds to the claustrophobic creepiness when the screen goes dark and the surrounds come alive. ;)

Thanks for the detail. It makes more sense now. I had read a little background about the script changes (monster talking vs. no talking; blind vs. not blind), but wasn't aware of the chronology of the films. I'll have to watch the other Frankenstein film then maybe it'll all become even more clear.
