    American Idol - Season 6

Isn't that a required element in the career rise of any young diva, the vocal cord health scare? They all seem to recover to be perfectly fine (or at least, as fine as they were in the first place). I think it's as much for the press as anything.

    American Idol - Season 6

No, all the other winners debuted at #1 in their first official week of sales. I can't believe it's out already. I thought it always took a month or so for the single to be out.

    American Idol - Season 6

I think Blake knew it last week just after Melinda was sent packing. And there's no way in hell he would want "This is My Now" to be his first single, so he's probably glad/relieved to be runner-up. ;)

    American Idol - Season 6

At first I thought that too, but it looked like they only featured the actual winners of the past seasons (except for Fantasia). I was actually surprised that Kelly Clarkson appeared again. She's always tried to distance herself from AI. I figured she gave in for the charity show since it...

    American Idol - Season 6

I thought you were done with Idol after last week? ;)

    American Idol - Season 6

Agree 100% ;) Just when I didn't think they could find a sappier final song, AI goes and tops themselves. But again, wasn't it picked by popular vote on the website? So that would explain it.

    American Idol - Season 6

I didn't offer it as an idea. I'm just saying if you wanted to make it a true singing competion based solely on vocal talents, like so many here seem to be yearning for, that's what would have to happen.

    American Idol - Season 6

The producers always pick the winner's debut single, and they sing it during the finale (along with a couple other songs). This year there was a songwriting competition for the first single as voted on by viewers, but I don't know if they pick the final song or just narrow it down with the...

    American Idol - Season 6

Anyone who clings to the desperate hope that this is a "singing" competition (including Simon Cowell) is rather naive. If it was supposed to be purely judged on the vocal/singing talent, you would never see the contestants. They would always perform behind a screen and you would only hear them...

    American Idol - Season 6

Well, after all the whining and moaning about how little talent was in Seattle, they have one of the finalists. :D I don't see Blake beating Jordin, but I guess anything is possible. Melinda will have a chance to record an album anyway, and she likely won't be strapped to one of the sappy...

    American Idol - Season 6

I would imagine he had no real idea of the age of the song and just used a large number to make his point that it's old. Jordin and Blake in the finals; Melinda goes home tonight (due to her advanced age, lack of personality, and spider-fang butt :D ).

    American Idol - Season 6

Again, there was no confirmation at any point during the show of who was where in the voting. All we know is that LaKisha was #4. The remaining three could have been in any order. Ryan did not specify any rankings, he just picked the "safe" people one at a time, but not necessarily in 1-2-3...

    American Idol - Season 6

They seemed to be having some technical difficulties, so it may not have been all on the vocalists. The sound seemed kind of muddled all night. And they forgot to even turn on their mics at the start of the medley.

    American Idol - Season 6

You should call the police now and let them know who's going to be tying you to a chair in front of a TV and taping your eyelids open on that day. ;)
  15. Malcolm R

    American Idol - Season 6

No, there was no indication that Ryan picked them out in any particular order. He just picked the safe people one by one, but they may not necessarily have been 1-2-3 by votes. All we know is the Top 3, but not what order they finished.

    American Idol - Season 6

I don't think their accuracy has been that great this season, so who knows?

    American Idol - Season 6

Beatbox haters may want to skip tonight's sho-sho, sho-sho-show. :D

    American Idol - Season 6

I don't see the appeal of Robin Thicke, either. Sounds like someone squeezing a cat. The way they announced the departures, they didn't indicate at all what order the remaining four might have been ranked. All we know is that the two that left were the bottom two. The remaining four could...

    American Idol - Season 6

Well, the farewells were predictable. Now it's up to: Blake and his Beauties :D to carry the next few weeks.

    American Idol - Season 6

Well, it is getting pretty old. I haven't read a single article or watched an Idol story/interview on TV that didn't make the reference. It's kind of an insult to JT, too. Chris R isn't that handsome and while Justin's voice is rather thin, too, he's a much better singer with a lot more vocal range.

    American Idol - Season 6

Amen to that! I'm glad someone's shaking things up a bit. Other than Blake, I feel like I'm watching auditions for wedding singers. All the contestant performances are available for paid download at the American Idol website. They run about a day behind, so tonight's songs won't be available...

    American Idol - Season 6

Seems odd that there could be such a swing in a single week, though. One week he's not even in the bottom three, the next he's gone?

    American Idol - Season 6

I thought Celine was on-stage with an Elvis impersonator (for the long distance shots), but that for close-ups they switched to a video composite of Celine with the real Elvis. Because for the long shots, you could see the Idol contestants standing behind "Elvis," but they were not there in the...

    American Idol - Season 6

I don't think she's ever been a big belter; she's much better at the lower volume levels.
  25. Malcolm R

    American Idol - Season 6

I think the guy on stage was just an impersonator. Everytime they switched to close-ups of Elvis' face, the Idols did not seem to be behind him. There was also a pretty obvious jump cut at the end as if from video back to live.

    American Idol - Season 6

I thought it was cool. :emoji_thumbsup: When Ryan called Paula "short," I wanted her to call Jordin over to stand next to Ryan. She always towers over him. :D

    American Idol - Season 6

I thought she did very well, but I hardly thought it was the "best performance ever in the whole history of the show," as Randy was trying to say between "dawgs" and "aiights". Lots of talk about this hyperbole on AM radio today too, wondering what the judges hear that's so different than...

    American Idol - Season 6

Pretty lackluster competition this week. I still like Blake, but I think he's in real danger this week after that poor song choice and boring performance. But I'd prefer to see Chris go as he seems to be the least talented of the remaining 6.
  29. Malcolm R

    American Idol - Season 6

The person who gets the boot always seems to sound better during their farewell song than they did the night before. Must be the nerves getting to them on the performance night. I think there's a decent voice there if he'd put some volume into his singing. When he'd actually sing out, I...

    American Idol - Season 6

That's why it's sometimes surprising how things can change from week to week. Last week, Sanjaya was at least at #5. This week, he was at #7. I can't believe Chris was safe while Blake was in the bottom three. Blake's fans may have been slacking since he's never seemed to be in any danger.
