    I can't stand theaters....

Well, let's see, at the latest theatrical experience: - Constant buzzing in the surround channels everytime bass-heavy surround effects would kick-in (and this is a "state-of-the-art" DTS multiplex that's been open 2 months). - People kicking seats. - Hot auditorium (which wasn't 1/2 full).

I think some of today's filmmakers would be appalled if they knew of the conditions some of their films are screened in. Do any of them ever attend a multi-screen crackerbox with no surround sound in Smalltown, USA, or do they assume all of America has access to the Mann's and Cinerama-type...

Well, at HP tonight there was: --Audio problems during the film. --Cell phone ringing. --Seat kicking. --Kid behind me who wouldn't shut up. --Another kid running up and down the center aisle since he was apparently bored by the film. --A few others who just *had* to get up and leave...

I don't know where all these audiences are that "participate" in the film. In all the years I've been going to the theater, other than laughs at comedy, occasional gasps at horror, and a few sniffles during emotional scenes in drama, the audiences I've been with just sit and watch the film, then...

Have you read *any* of this thread? There is *nothing* showing in his Home Theater because it isn't even finished yet. He said clearly that he couldn't put up a picture of the front of the HT room because the screen isn't done yet. But a blank light box wouldn't make for a very interesting...

What Andrew said. We're talking about promotional materials here (for his light box), not prints of actual films.

You can also keep an eye out for local theaters that are remodeling or closing. I know when our local theater remodeled and changed out all the seats, they advertised in the newspaper to sell all the existing seats. I think they were ridiculously cheap, just to get rid of them...

Nope. It's mostly higher ticket prices that keep raising overall grosses. From cnn.money: The average number of people attending films in the United States actually has declined in three of the last five years, with the 2003 attendance up only 4 percent from 1999 levels.
