    Same here. The only CGI that I had issue with was whenever they tried to animate an actual person. I thought all the CGI creatures were very well done.

    I believe there were only six horses, and it's not like they made a nice, neat landing. The carriage fell (see above) and the rear two horses had a pretty rough, scrambling landing. Why on earth would someone go to a film about vampires, werewolves, and reanimated zombies then get all hung up...

    You're assuming those are universal examples of "good" films in this category. Not everyone drools over SW or T2. I'm not sure overall word of mouth is that bad either. Yahoo! Movies shows a "B" grade based on over 8,000 responses.

    Doubtful. "The Mummy Returns" was a big budget sequel. I think "Van Helsing" performed very well on its own. If and when there's a "Van Helsing Returns," its opening will provide a more apt comparison to TMR.

    "Critically praised" and "fun summer movie" are usually mutually exclusive. The best summer popcorn flicks are usually the worst reviewed. Why would it be bad? He talks in the book.

    That grossed over $200M. If "Van Helsing" grosses are in the same ballpark, I think the studio will be happy.
