    Walking Dead Season 3

After a string of subpar episodes, credit is given where credit is due; that was a strong finale with many surprises. With all the interpersonal material pushed to the side and the focus back on survival, the show did what it does best. Too bad Andrea's stock had plummeted so badly - her...

Ah, OK - hard to tell.

I call them as I see them. This is a thread for open discussion, no? I'm sure there are lovefest TWD threads out there that can be posted to. In my posts I point out the good and the bad. ie Micchone & Merle scenes were very good and the bad - episode setup, Rick's non-dilemma dilemma. etc...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Worth watching strictly for the scenes between Micchone and Merle - even though the whole episode was based on a false premise that Rick already acknowledged last episode. Sheesh - what a lame bit of writing that plot driver was. I'm gonna miss Merle - one of the few characters with any level...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Yep. Hence my dissatisfaction with the character handling aspects of the series.

    Walking Dead Season 3

It's always a revelation when people can watch the same thing and yet come away with widely different reactions. Fascinating write up Adam but I was left with a totally opposite reaction. This episode was a real snoozer. Character development is fine, though for pacing, mixing it up is always...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Yes, the edit made it feel like there was a dropped scene(s) between Micchone's leaving and coming back.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Carl dropped the picture very close to the front of the store so that seems rather improbable. Even if it did play out that way, it came across as a gloss over and undermined the depth of her gesture. Especially since she had time to pick up the toy cat too. A minor quibble in a very strong episode.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Well Richard you got part of your wish though Morgan seems a lost cause at this point. TWD works so much better when the cast is pared down to minimum numbers. For the first time in awhile the danger of the zombies felt palpable again. Also a much overdue episode for some quality screen time for...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Within the context of the season arc - which has felt mechanical due to the aforementioned issue of the show's inability to balance character development against character attrition - the microcosm of this episode was the best the series has done to date with handling most, if not all, of the...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Well we all have clearly mapped out our stances. Here's to episodes that make all of us happy - for they will be truly great ones!

    Ditto this!

    Walking Dead Season 3

I certainly have no expectations of that but where the show has failed to date is in establishing most of the cast as fleshed out characters. I'll quote Alan Sepinwall over at HitFix since he nicely captures my issues with most of the characters: Full review - here. Half-hearted is exactly how...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Where would you like to go? :D I stand by my post. Two dull episodes in a row. Midseason malaise has struck the show again. This is like the dullest stretches back on the farm again. Much like what Josh is saying.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Another snoozefest with maybe 10 mins of interesting content The Merle and Daryl scenes were good as was the last scene when the Governor attacked the prison. The rest - zzzzzzzzzzz.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Yeah and it was rather dull.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Adam it sounds to me like you are applying comic book knowledge to those characters. I am going by what is on the screen. Micchone is opaque not complex to this point. "Think of the circumstances. She walks in on a scene where Micchone has just brutally assaulted the governor, destroyed his...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Solid midseason finale but good lord the writing for the black characters on this show has been atrocious and embarrassing. Micchone was a walking plot point this episode and Rick should have used her sword on her. And why could Micchone not tell Andrea what was going on?!?!?!? Lame.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Agree Adam - more has happened in the first half of this season than all of last season. Big improvement on that front. Best episode of the season. Will there be a face to face between Rick and the Governor next week? Hope so - but they may be holding onto that for later. Glenn kicked ass...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Yeah really dislike where they are taking her character. Lori 2 here we come. The rest of the episode was uniformly strong and even though the switching of characters from both camps was rather clunky and convenient - the payoff should be worth it. Very glad they did not keep the two story...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Dale, Glen, and Carol had enough scenes where they active in to be established as characters. T-Dog's handling was disgraceful. I agree with your points about not having to lay everything out but Michonne is still too opaque at this point in the season which is near the midpoint.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Is that not the definition of gratuitous? I agree it looked cool. But as a non-reader of the comic book, someone dressing up and looking badass does not constitute character creation for me. That is just a look. I may be slow or old school or both - :) but the show has done very little to...

    Walking Dead Season 3

It's a nice theory but the show has not established that. More scenes between Andrea and Michonne when they were on their own for 8 months was a missed opportunity to establish Michonne's character. Also those walkers were caged so her kills required forethought. As far as Carol, she is dead...

    Walking Dead Season 3

What a textbook case of character motivations. For the Rick half of the episode we totally get why he goes on a rampage and that half of the episode is stellar story telling. :tu: For the Michonne half - we know nothing of where her head is at so her bout of zombie killing is totally gratuitous...

    Walking Dead Season 3

Poor T-Bone. 3 seasons and what? - a dozen lines of dialogue. Terrible. Can't say I'll miss Lori at all. Her dying is a good move from a story telling point of view - her relationship with Rick was damaged beyond repair. Really felt for Carl and Rick.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Ok episode - obviously a placement one. The fish tanks at the end was creepy. Micchone may look cool but she needs to start talking more. Guess the Gov wants women only.

    Walking Dead Season 3

Definitely agree. Less of the characters bleating is definitely making the pace of the show much better.
  29. Lou Sytsma

    Walking Dead Season 3

Is the secret to The Walking Dead being great to have minimal dialogue? Best episode since the pilot. Loved seeing the characters evolve into a ruthless and efficient zombie killing unit.
