Spidey will survive with a new actor. Too bad Topher was tabbed to play Venom in this movie. He would have made a good Parker. Wonder if Sony will consider Gyllenhal?
Let me clarify my position on the multi-villian issue. This has been discussed a while ago in another thread. I would not mind a multi-villian movie where Spidey dispatches a B villian in an opening sequence a la James Bond films. Otherwise too many villians for the whole movie leaves too...
I agree with you on the multiple villians point Adam. The pre-Batman Begins movies left a bad taste on that point which I have never been able to shake.
You have half of the equation. We will be getting Dark Parker versus Light Parker. Raimi has never been locked into the comic backstories. I believe his interest in using the Venom material is for the thematic material it presents. Spiderman IS NOT Batman but Peter Parker is EVERYMAN. And...
Here are some more pictures, this group shows Tobey McGuire on set including some that give a glimpse of a certain suit under his civvies: http://www.savingfaceforum.com/index...howtopic=21218
Sigh. Raimi has done an excellent job with the previous two installments. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt, shall we? I believe the movie version of Venom, as envisaged by Raimi, is going to top anything that has been done in the comics. Bring it on Sam! Bring it on!
I like it. Its a nice merge of two media. I am more intrigued by Spidey's pose. Is he hurt? Is he tired from trying to fight the suit - if it is Venom or another villian? Is the pose the result of something tragic that happened? So many possibilities. Excellent bit of marketing!:emoji_thumbsup:
I disagree - rent The Village. Howard was luminous in that movie and picking her to play Gwen Stacy is inspired. Also wasn't she sporting her natural hair color in The Village?
Topher as Venom makes big sense to me. Topher could have played Peter Parker/Spidey just as well as Tobey - and probably would have cracked the oneliners better as Spidey.
