Funny, but my friends and I always took it as Vader actually being TOO ticked off to even bother to kill any one person.

If the OT was all there was ever going to be, then I agree. But the OT isn't the whole story, and we don't need to have Anakin's exact motives spelled out at that point in time. Twenty some years after the prequel trilogy, Anakin is as much a force of nature as he is a tragic three dimensional...

Don't forget that he was also once again facing the same choice as when Mace Windu was being electrocuted. In ROTJ he made sure that this time the right person went over the ledge.

The script tells us all we need to know about Vader's motives in the OT. They are *selfish* motives. The fun part is picturing in your mind what he was really after had Luke agreed to join him. That's no more a failing of the script than Pulp Fiction failing at telling us what was in the...

Whether or not the Force can bring her back is irrelevant. All that matters is what Palpatine tells Vader is possible, because Vader will most likely believe it. I could easily see Palpatine continuing to lie and offer false hope to Vader since, well, that's what he did to *everybody*...

I still don't think that Vader truly desired to kill the Emperor until he started frying Luke. Palpatine was the only source of consistent praise for almost his entire life. Palpatine alone offered the best help at "keeping people from dying" and if possible resurrecting them (my assumption...

I think if someone's first viewing of the entire saga was in order of episode they wouldn't have a problem with Vader's "Noooo!" in ROTS. That said, even a year later I just can't get over how much more awesome the original trilogy is now after Episode III. Luke's expression when seeing the...

It seems Mace Windu's pride had at least as much to do with his death than his skepticism in Anakin. The second he raised his own hand to deliver the killing blow to Palpatine he *had* to be put down, according to the prophecy. Good or bad, he wasn't the one predestined to end the Sith, and...

I'm going to have to go with Anakin turning to the Dark Side. Imagine if Luke Force-choked Leia and then turned into an evil cyborg at the end of ROTJ in 1983. It would have blown our minds and shaken the saga even more than the "father" revelation in ESB. That's basically what happens for...

The point being that Leia would not have escaped if Luke hadn't left Dagobah when he did.

I think you're forgetting how Leia, Lando, and Chewie unlocked the door to the Falcon's landing platform and then got the hyperdrive working.

The only continuity blip I see regarding Leia as Luke's sister is when you go back and watch ESB during the "No, there is another" sequence. If Luke failed in rescuing Leia from Darth Vader then there would be no "other" hope. "That boy is our last hope [in destroying the Sith.]" "No...

Anyone notice that the finales to both the Star Wars saga and LOTR trilogy feature a nearly identical shot of the main character climbing on his belly up a volcanic slope? Anakin would probably even be about the same height as Frodo at that particular moment. ;)

Bah, like anyone wants to talk about ROTS anyway. Personally I'd like to see more discussion about a possible Batman Begins sequel. I think I'll start a thread.

As was Dooku, Nute Gunray and the Separatists, the Jedi, Vader in ROTJ, and basically everyone who served Palpatine/Sidious in one form or another. That's kind of the point. But that doesn't mean you had to like the character. I sure did though. :)

The new ROTJ end celebration is one of my favorite moments of the saga. I've played it a fair number of times since owning the DVD and I'm definitely in the camp that thinks the "Weesa free!" is indeed Jar Jar, or at the very least Ahmed Best's voice.

Nah, the Obi-Wan/Grievous duel really served the story as a build up to the Obi-Wan/Vader fight on Mustafar. It was good to see Obi-Wan defeat a powerful villain on his own plus it was really cool to see Obi-Wan send Grievous up into the rafters with that "Force push", then try the same move...

My favorite CGI character was definitely Grievous. Not only did I think he looked totally convincing, but I think he's the most "fun" of the SW villains. Characters like him tend to be a bit polarizing but I'm in the camp that loved his little mannerisms (clicking his fingers together, etc.)...

Heh, I just liked the level of confusion, irritation, and regret that he expressed. I figure his midichlorian count and "Chosen One" status would allow for him to breeze through most challenges pretty easily, but here he was at a relative loss. I wouldn't rank it as one of my favorite scenes...

Did anyone else notice that in ROTS Anakin pulls a move in his Jedi Starfighter just like one that he did during the Pod Race? During the second lap of the Pod Race an alien tries to slam him into the side of a canyon and Anakin does a barrel roll to flip up over the alien's pod and speed off...

Tim Glover said: Are you talking about the scene where Jar Jar keeps grabbing fruit with his tongue? Or did you mean to say the Anakin/Padme dinner in AOTC? I watched a little bit of AOTC the other day and when Anakin and Padme have their first kiss I remembered someone here mentioning that...

Favorite scenes of mine from the Saga that don't involve combat: 1. Anakin and Padme outside the Lars hut before he searches for his mother 2. Anakin and Palpatine at the opera 3. Anakin and Padme looking out the windows prior to his decision to prevent Palpatine's arrest (chilling music...

Well Padme's death is definitely a "repercussion" of his evil acts, which could also be construed as punishment. He reaped what he sowed.

On this I agree due to the current flow of I-VI. The Sith get revenge but the Jedi's new hope allows the Order to return after repeated strikes by the Empire.... Originally though, Vader wasn't necessarily Luke's father in ANH, Leia certainly wasn't Luke's sister in ESB, and the returning Jedi...

I definitely agree that Yoda and the other Jedi weren't all knowing. Their lack of perception is what led to their desctruction. "Shroud of the Dark Side" and all that. But I do think they gained much insight (and hindsight) after the events of ROTS. So when Obi-Wan and Yoda refer to Anakin...

Well what about Yoda then? "You must face Vader. Then, only then, a Jedi will you be." So Luke was a force user and wasn't a Jedi at the time Yoda was speaking to him. And I think its safe to say that Yoda was an "expert" on what makes a person a Jedi. Then there's Obi-Wan Kenobi. "I was...

I can't believe people are debating over whether Anakin was ever a Jedi. Its all over all six films. Even Grand Moff Tarkin and the Emperor imply that Anakin had been a Jedi. In ROTS Mace allows Anakin on the Council but doesn't grant him the rank of "Master." Don't you think that whole...
