They are doing a 12 inch figure line too, the first one is Strider I believe (announced on tuesday). Those are more affordable, around 50-60 bucks each. OK I'll stop with the collectibles talk. :D
Yeah they are pricey...but if you nab the exclusive editions (there was an exclusive of Lurtz, that comes with his bow as well...but only limited to 750 pieces) which sell out in minutes you can make a nice penny on ebay. I made $400 profit on the 1/4 scale Han Solo exclusive edition (limited to...
Today Sideshow announced their first product in the "Premium Format" figure line. They are 1/4 scale and are slightly different from the older 1/6 scale statues. The first one is Lurtz It's made out of Polystone and real leather. About 2 foot tall and 16 pounds...
Actually you are trodding into the FOTR thread territory ;) I still think Bombadil would have hurt the pacing. Just think of how FOTR flows, and see where you would put a scene like Bombadil. It would have worked had they made 6 films for the the 6 books, but not with just 3. Too bad it...
Yeah Pippin tricking Treebeard is probably one of the weakest parts of the trilogy, but in the EE the shot of Huorns moving and Treebeard saying "They have business with the Orcs" made up for it somewhat. I always had a soft spot for the Ents and Trees in LOTR. I echo Lou's statement about...
I am surprised to see these discussions resurfacing ;) But it is understandable since you just read the book. To fit everything in, you are right we would need 6 films. But in terms of adapting such a massive amount of material, I don't think I've ever seen it done better. 95% of their...
I went through TTT:EE today after all the company left. It was nice because I haven't seen it since right when ROTK:EE came out. I've sort of neglected TTT since then and have only been watching FOTR and ROTK. Maybe TTT will become an annual christmas thing for me. :) I find it the hardest to...
Doubtful, Ernest. These will be HD-DVD. We're all gonna be wanting LOTR on HD anyway, why not throw on some more special features? I doubt anyone is gonna complain.
Jackson on an Ultimate LOTR DVD Collection Source: USA Today January 14, 2005 USA Today spoke with "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy director Peter Jackson on the set of King Kong where he revealed that they still want to develop an Ultimate "Lord of the Rings" DVD Collection. The set...
Yes, I noticed that right off the bat. the Strangling of Deagol seemed much more brutal, and its because it's longer. Always seemed rushed in the theatrical....like how could someone be choked THAT quickly. EE clears it up though. :) Though overall I still find it to be a weak scene, I wish...
Well I hope all of you who wanted the Minas Morgul companion piece got your orders in cause it is sold out. All 8500 of them, sold out in less than 4 days.
Yes Lou. I can't stress enough the quality of this DTS track. The best I've heard - best surround effects, deepest most tightest bass (actually bottomed out my sub a couple times which means some of this bass must venture into the 10-15hz range, but I only have a Paradigm PDR-10), incredible...
Well I just finished it a while ago and let me first say... Best LOTR movie, hands down, including all the EE's. Furthermore it's the best film I've seen in my life (FOTR:EE held that title previously) ;) Let me talk about the technical stuff because I don't think it has been mentioned...
I'm not adding anything to this nonsense, but I will say I just secured a copy of the EE for tonight after much searching. Can't wait to watch! :emoji_thumbsup: :D Sometime soon you guys will have a quick review from someone a little more lenient when it comes to book deviations. p.s...
Gotta love watching LOTR with someone who hasn't seen it yet. I just watched FOTR: EE tonight with a friend who hasn't seen it. He is a big fan of the books and actually boycotted the films for this long. I finally got him to sit down and watch, and he was blown away. He was crying and I've...
But if you read the beginning of his article, he basically states he isn't a fan of the extended editions. So right off the bat I know what he thinks won't be the same as me. Can't picture myself ever watching FOTR or TTT theatrical editions again.... So I never read the article. I've...
So apparently a big 6 minute trailer will be posted on the official site tomorrow (for the ROTK:EE). I bet it will be like the ones on the FOTR and TTT theatrical DVDs.
For my fellow Canadians, it looks like Howard Shore is finally bringing his LOTR Symphony to Ontario. He is playing in Kitchener and Toronto. The amazing thing is that Kitchener is my home town, relatively small with about 200,000 people. But it does have the Centre In The Square which is...
WOW just WOW. I almost fainted at that footage. The Gandalf/WK confrontation was incredible. TOo bad the beginning was cut off, I wanted to see the Mouth of Sauron. I have a good feeling New Line will put this on the web to promote the EE. At least I hope they do. WOW
Some screenshots I took from the Sideshow comic con web cam... http://www.adamkoebel.com/comiccon/giftset.html Shows the gift set packaging and the included statue (minas tirith). The companion piece is minas morgul (similar to the gollum as gollum deal last year). It's small but...
Did anyone else know Costa Botes was making a LOTR Documentary? I had no idea! Well apparently he DID! And it's 21 hours long!!! A lot of it unseen stuff from the extended DVDs who were produced by someone else. There is an article on it here: http://www.theonering.net/scrapbook/group/1454...
Best shots of the trilogy. Very tough, but I would have to say. FOTR: -Last alliance - Elves lined up doing their syncronized sword swoosh thing -Closeup of Sauron's Gauntlet with the Ring glowing (as he raised up his mace for another blow) -Gandalf riding to Minas Tirith, wide shot with...
Hmmm...only 20mins more than the other two which you seemed to enjoy somewhat. It was also faster paced IMO. Word of advice: don't buy the extended edition. It is about 260 minutes :)
