    Deadpool 2 (2018)

They probably had fun making the edited-for-content version that is distributed in public exhibition spaces like airplanes and network television and figured, why not?

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

As theaters continue to switch to reserved seating, advance sales will continue to increase across the board, regardless of the demand for a particular film - it's just the new way of doing business. I decided that I'm not going to see this on opening night, but I did check and the IMAX tickets...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

I wouldn't be concerned - I think it's likely that the date was previously scheduled during this time when they made the original contracts. It probably seems worse than it is because the actors were probably contractually locked into being available during this window, which would have been...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

I'm probably an oddball, but I actually find it easier most of the time to make it out to the movies on my way home from work than to make it out on an day that I'm completely off. And, judging from the number of people I see at Thursday night showings, I'm guessing I'm not totally alone in this :)

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

You're right, that was probably a bit over the top. I would like to revise that statement to say that I think it's bad that studios are discovering that a movie can be a hit at all times of the years, but then immediately discarding that knowledge, or treating those newly hit months as the...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

Who knows if physical media would survive much longer than that, if the theaters went. Not to mention, to your point - I saw the first Deadpool with my wife in theaters at a Dolby Cinema location, and we paid about $40 for the pair of tickets. If movies premiered digitally instead of in...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

Yeah, it's frightening to think about, because that's the number after those films are averaged in. What does that number look like if you take away the tentpoles and the big weekends they came with? Because that's what the studios are essentially doing for some upcoming seasons. Ultimately...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

I remember a few years ago, Steven Spielberg did an interview where he warned that all it would take would be a couple "all-in" tentpoles to flop to bankrupt a major studio, and that quote was greeted with shock and disbelief within the industry at the time. I think not long after that, Sony...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

It's not even necessarily a matter of my home setup being something truly outstanding - I have a 50" TV that I use for regular viewing, and 100" portable projection screen. Some people here at HTF have truly outstanding, mindblowing setups, and I don't think I'm in their league. Without...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

For sure. I think Deadpool 1 was as big of a hit as it was precisely because it came out when there was nothing else like it in the marketplace. Same for the first Lego Movie back in February 2014, or It this past September. These are all films that wouldn't have done half their business, in...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

October wasn't as big this year because Blade Runner 2049 underperformed, but the October slot has been great in recent years for serious sci-fi titles; Gravity and The Martian had great success in that time period. I feel exactly the same. I subscribed to Movie Pass last year, and because I...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

I didn't realize they moved it away from Memorial Day ... I think that's good news.

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

Ugh. I hate this latest trend on studios. First, they discover that people like seeing movies at all times of the year, and not just May-June and December. To their overwhelming surprise, a movie that people are interested in seeing has a huge opening and does well in a different month...

    Deadpool 2 (2018)

I didn't feel like this ran too long (or if it did, by seconds more than by minutes), but in general, Deadpool has a "less is more" feel for me. I'd almost prefer a series of shorts like this rather than another full length Deadpool feature.
