They ran new 35mm prints of I and II at the Brattle Theater here in Cambridge, MA. Unfortunately, I was out of town the weekend they showed them...grrr... but it's good to know that there are at least new prints floating around out there.

Seriously, $120? Where? Amazon's had it around $60 (incl. free shipping), and I've seen it in local stores here for about $70. (Definitely agree that $120 would be far too high a price.)

Robert Harris can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd venture to guess that removing the burned-in subs were a necessary part of the restoration. To get the best possible image, RAH and his team would have gone back to the original negatives, which would not yet have had the subtitles burned in. If...
