Time for an official Snow Leopard thread

My last gripe was cured a couple weeks back. This actually wasn't Apple's fault, but Epson. The driver for my somewhat old Stylus Photo R200 was SOOOO stinking slow, especially when printing on discs, which is mostly what I use it for, I could tell it to print and go to lunch before it finally...

After one of the recent updates, an annoying little issue that even existed on 10.5 has been eliminated. I have a current model Mini with (2) 23" monitors connected. Before, when the computer had gone to sleep or even just if the monitors only had gone to sleep, when it woke up, the monitors...

I sort of expected .1 to come out pretty quick. It makes sense that there would be some rapid fixes once the system went public. I was actually glad to see it. One thing about iTunes 9. It takes sooo long to start playing a song. Is anyone else noticing this? OK, now that I said that, I...

I'm really surprised how many people don't seem to get the fact that if you want the most seamless transition you wait until at least .1 or .2. It's not even unusual to Mac. It's the same for Windows. This is the first time I've upgraded before about .4 and I am actually surprised how smooth...

Where I am seeing immediate improvements is in a few specific areas, which also agrees with what I understand about 10.6. First, redraws are noticeably faster. My understanding is this will depend heavily on the video card. Web site redraws, scrolling, image resizing, all noticeably faster...

The only smal issue has been resolved. Ardiem appeared again once I restarted. Apparently it needs Rosetta (which I can only guess is to permit use of old apps) which had been downloaded, but I guess it didn't work until I restarted. I'm looking forward to significant speed improvements. I'll...

I had checked for several updates just a couple days ago and found none. Today after upgrading, I found updates to everything that needed it, which actually was very few things. My somewhat old Epson Stylus Photo R200 did not download drivers, but going to the Epson site showed a complete...

It definitely requires recalibrating the monitors. I had to select the profiles again, but they clearly aren't right, so I'll be running it through the paces. First thing I do is probably to burn a disc in Toast 9.

I am backing up as we speak. Preparing for the switch. Jason, $120 for a 320 GB drive is really high. You can get a Mini Max 1GB for that from Amazon.

I have to shake my head at the continued shrugging off of the long term impact of SL. Double the power of your computer for $29. What a rip-off. Yeah, it will take a little time to fully implement, but anything this global takes time. I would MUCH rather have real performance improvements...

I can understand the occasional complaints of the new OS lacking lots of dazzling new stuff, but to me it seems like a valuable change. Clearly Apple is laying the groundwork for global improvements that will come with time. Cleaning out the old code and (so it seems) enabling it to be as much...

According to FedEx it appears mine should be here today. I can't be the only one. I thought the receipt said delivery ON 8/28, but it actually says BY 8/28. Like I said before, I've never had an OS on release date. Not even close. I hope I am safe to install it. Of course, I will make a...

That article also indicates it MAY be possible to install from scratch with the $29 disc. I guess we'll know Friday. The main reason I want to know is because I have an Intel iMac at work running 10.4 and Parallels and I would like to migrate it to an external disc with 10.6 and either the...

Dave, you misunderstood me. I was wondering about being able to just plain reinstall 10.6 from scratch with the upgrade discs. With what you are saying, I would first have to install 10.5 from regular install discs (which I have) then upgrade it to 10.6, which is a huge and pointless hassle...

I also ordered for Friday, but Keith brings up something I didn't think of. Does anyone know if this disc allows a clean install in the future? It would really annoy me if I had to install 10.5 first if I just wanted to start from scratch.
