Sad news all around. Certainly sad to hear of Julie’s treatment.
Business aside, I think Twilight Time was truly a labor of love, the likes of which we will most likely never see again.
It still baffles me that after all their sales and a regularly discounted price for an extended period of time, that Save Your Legs hasn’t sold out. It’s such a delightful comedy. I know it’s not well known, but I figured that for as long as was priced at $6.95 and now with the sale, more people...
I think it’s important to remember that today didn’t arrive in a vaccuum. Nick handled a lion’s share of the work and since he had been ill for a while, that work output slowed or stopped. And Julie’s time was no doubt spent taking care of him. So even if TT continues to reward us with its...
I was massively disappointed to find out that Streisand had specifically stipulated no isolated score track on the TT blu-ray of Yentl. Such a beautiful Michel Legrand score that’s never been available on record except in brief medleys on a few Legrand recordings. Sigh. Not sure her reason, but...
At the $6.95 level is a very charming, funny, feel-good movie called “Save Your Legs” based on a true story of an Australian cricket team touring India. One of the best blind buys I ever made.
“Strange Invaders” doesn’t really work for me at all, but your mileage may vary.
I love “Hawaii” and...
It’s encouraging to hear there’s still some restoration work going on at Fox. I was afraid it had all stopped pending the sale.
BTW, any more Sony Streisands in the pipeline?
I was so optimistic when I saw the glorious work Fox had done on Doctor Dolittle. I just knew Star! would look and sound as great on blu-ray. And then... and then... the mouse came along!
Nuts is with Warner Bros., so the chances are slim to none that TT would release it. The Barbra films they’ve released have all been Columbia (Sony) or MGM/UA releases. There are four more Streisand Sony films, so hopefully one or more of them is in the pipeline. I myself would love The Owl and...
Looking up this set, I saw that in Germany Sony released a blu-ray of It Happened to Jane. But it's region locked. Sigh. I'd always hoped that would get a release here.
Same with me. I enjoy Caprice now but can barely sit through Do Not Disturb, although it has a marvelous cast and a couple of fun moments here and there. Just painfully labored.
I, too, was hoping for this. But unless it's already been planned it looks like Fox is not actively licensing out until everything settles with the Disney sale. Doesn't bode well for Star! either.
You don't buy 10 to Midnight to get the autographed copy. You get it free if you spend $120 on TT product. But you have to get your order in while supplies last. Sometimes the autographed copies go lightning fast. Other times they linger for a day.
