Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

Complaining about the chats, and then complaining that Warner isn't coming along to do one so that you can ignore it. Just when you think you've read it all...

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

Speaking of the 'chat', I always thought it was a magnificent piece of marketing strategy by Warners to come here and tease with titbits of news of what's coming and what might be coming; I'm quite puzzled why there's been no first quarter chat at the HTF - I honestly can't believe it's because...

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

As reported at the DVD Forums, UK etailer Play.com is listing two September R2 releases that have been previously flagged for R1 release by Warners this year - an 'Errol Flynn Collection' (which Warners said, IIRC, was going to be western oriented), and 'How The West Was Won'. No details of...

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

How many more times, in how many more threads are we going to castigate Warner for slacking / not giving us the titles/stars we want / messing around with box art? (delete as applicable). It seems that the mere mention of Warner means that the discussion can only go one way. It's getting old...

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

Whenever Warners is mentioned these days, the discussion takes a distinct turn into deja vu territory doesn't it (not least in the course of this thread)? FWIW, I'm delighted with their current output; only Fox appears to be keeping pace.

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

There are a few titles in that OOP list that say 'old version' (including 'High Sierra'); I'm assuming that means a snapper version, and doesn't necessarily mean a shiny new SE on the way?

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

According to the DVD Talk forum OOP list, lots of Warners titles have just gone out of print including: An American In Paris Beetlejuice Gigi High Society How The West Was Won

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

DVD Times on the new Dirty Harry Collection: Warner Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of a Dirty Harry Collection on 3rd June 2008. First announced as part of their 85th Anniversary plans, we now have a release date and some early information on the new Special Edition...

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

That's very true; only Fox and Warners seem to be on the ball right now, but I guess that commercial considerations are playing a much larger part in what we get and what we don't get on DVD than, say, 2-3 years ago. Warners in particular seem to be victims of their own past successes in terms...

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

Hmmm; I'd like to think that's so. We've been down this road many times after all; initial announcement provokes outrage / indignation / puzzlement, everyone's talking about Warner, then down the line we get the real story and suddenly, everyone's tallking about Warner (again). It's sheer...

Speculation for Warner Bros. 85th Anniversary Celebration

From Barrie Maxwell's first column of 2006: "More distant Warner plans include a new release of the Cinerama film How the West Was Won (late 2006 or early 2007) and a 2007 release of the three Showboat films (1951, 1936, and 1929 - previously missing Vitaphone discs have been located for the...
