Is there anybody anywhere who thinks the newly recorded voices sound good? :) I doubt it! I think this IT, the definitive release. Don't expect MGM or Sony to spend any more on it now! Re; The Grotto Scene. There seems to be plenty of inferred references to it only existing in the Rome...

Ok, I've just checked the DVD and it skates around whether Sergio Leone cut out the Grotto scene or if it was taken out against his will. The way John Kirk words it, the only reason he put it in was to solve his percieved continuity problem. He never mentions that Sergio ever wanted it in...

I'm not sure if it was present in the Rome premiere. It's not unusual for a director to tinker a little more after the premiere to get something s/he's truly happy with. I'll have to get the DVD out and give you an exact quote from the DVD's producer.

That is indeed the scene. The DVD producer decided it was "nice" to know the origins of those bad guys... you know, the one's that are killed in the next scene they appear in. Hmph. If GB&U was released in the wrong aspect ratio, or didn't feature the original mono track, or was slightly...

I'd be perfectly happy so long as it was Sergio Leone's version!

Wowza! Can't wait for them to sit beside my Good, Bad & Ugly SE! Speaking of which, am I only the one who was perturbed to see footage that Leone had actually removed from G,B&U (not the stuff removed by the US distributors) re-inserted into the movie by the guy who did the DVD?! I though the...
